3.MuriwaiGannetColony, the habitat of muriwaigannet
The habitat area is vast, extending to two mutually perpendicular islands at sea. Every year from August to March, about 1200 pairs of gannets nest here. Birds that come to the island must glide to avoid the beaks held high when neighbors protest. Once they land by mistake, the price will be very painful. This bird, weighing 2.5 kilograms, has a wingspan of two meters, and the scene when flying with open wings is extremely spectacular and impressive. Each pair of gannets only lays one egg, and parents will take turns to hatch. Chickens are bare when they are hatched, but they will grow fine hairs within a week. When they mature, their bodies will grow feathers, and at the same time, they will start to exercise their wings, ready to jump off the cliff one day and spread their wings and soar. Once they learn to fly, these little gannets will leave their habitat and fly over tasman sea to Australia. After a few years, survivors will return to their habitat to build nests and settle down. The spectacular scenery of the habitat will impress you deeply. Mulihuai Beach, which stretches 60 kilometers to the north, is a unique black beach, located between Thunder Surfing Beach and Shashan Mountain.
