Aegean Sea, a sea of many islands, is regarded as the symbolic sea of Greece and has countless Greek myths. At the opening ceremony of the 28th Athens Olympic Games, a perfect "marine world" was performed with the Aegean Sea as the theme. In the blue "Aegean Sea" (20,000-ton pool), the boat of civilization is coming slowly, which perfectly shows the ancient Greek customs born in the Aegean Sea and connects ancient Greece with modern times. "There is no road longer than the feet, and there is no sea wider than the boat, but it is the human heart that goes further than the boat"-this is the theme song at the opening ceremony of the Athens Olympic Games. The culture of ancient Greece is a typical example of "marine culture". For the Greeks, the ocean is everything, and life, entertainment and communication are all carried out through the ocean.
When you go to Greece, swim in the Aegean Sea and visit the unique island features, you will feel the uniqueness of Greek "marine culture". According to ancient Greek mythology, after the gods created the earth, they left a stone behind them, thus turning over the Greek islands. The most striking feature of Aegean Islands architecture is dazzling white. Depart from Piraeus Port and arrive at Mykonos Island in cyclades. Mykonos Port itself is a fantastic white city, and clusters of two-story white houses like white honeycombs can be seen everywhere. The pure white dome of Bala Portia's Church is full of poetry and painting with sunshine, white clouds, white houses and seagulls. According to legend, Taylor Island is the birthplace of Apollo, the sun god. There are five lions on the island, carved with exquisite Greek marble, standing tall and straight. Sandoni Island is a volcanic island shaped like the first quarter moon. A long-standing legend has cast a mysterious veil over this island. The hilly terrain on the island and the short white houses stand in the sun, which makes people seem to have entered a mythical world. The white windmills and churches on the island add some features. Rhode Island, with beautiful scenery, ranks fourth in the Aegean Sea. The Greek word Rhodes means rose. It tells the love story of Poseidon's beautiful daughter Rhodes. The island has fertile soil, lush olives, rose patches, hibiscus, peach blossoms, mimosa and jasmine, so it is known as the "bouquet of Aegean Sea". From the old town of the island to the north, you can see two bronze deer standing on both sides of the entrance of the old port, which is the ancient lighthouse site of Rhode Island. It turned out that there was a copper giant more than 20 meters high, standing on both sides of the river with a torch. Ships go in and out through the giant's crotch, which was destroyed in the earthquake.
In Homer's epic Odyssey, there is a poem praising the island of Crete: "There is a place called Crete, which is beautiful and rich in the middle of the wine-green sea ..." Crete is the birthplace of European civilization, which has gathered cultural achievements from all over the world and has countless fairy tales. The Knossos maze on the island is a symbol of ancient Greek civilization. Knossos maze was built in BC18th century. It is a complex composed of various houses, with a rectangular courtyard in the center, surrounded by the king's palace, queen's bedroom and palaces with religious significance. Long corridors, aisles, hallways and stairs skillfully connect the whole building together. The hall is complex, with thousands of families, twists and turns, dazzling, as if caught in a maze. It reveals the superb achievements of Crete civilization in Aegean Sea around15th century BC.
