Find a plastic basin filled with water. You can't wash it with hot or warm water, otherwise the hat will fade and some materials will shrink. As long as the water can submerge the hat, if only one or two hats are washed, a plastic bowl is enough.
Pour in mild detergent. Stir well with a plastic spoon to make the water surface float with a layer of foam.
For knitted wool caps, it is best to use a special detergent for washing wool products, otherwise a mild detergent without additives such as bleach can be used. Powder detergent can be directly dissolved in water, so the washing effect is the best.
Dip the corner of the hat into the water first. Before soaking the whole hat, try to see if the hat will fade and the fabric will have adverse reactions. It must be the cloth on the inside of the back of the head, soaked for 2 minutes, so that even if there is any adverse reaction, the damage will not be too obvious.
Dip the whole hat in. If the fabric doesn't have any bad reaction in the last step, then you can soak the whole hat in water. If it's just routine washing, just soak the hat in water for 30 minutes. If the hat is covered with mud or stubborn dust, you may have to soak it all night.
Rinse the hat. Take the hat out of the water, then turn on the tap water and rinse the detergent with a big stream of water. Remember to rinse with cold water until the hat no longer sticks to your hands and no foam can be seen.
Squeeze out excess water. Squeeze the water with both hands, then put the hat on a clean rag and pat it gently until there is no water dripping. Never screw it out, or the hat will be distorted.
Let the hat dry. Hang the knitted hat in a ventilated place, set it, and then lay it flat on the towel. If you want the hat to dry quickly, put the electric fan aside and blow it, but never turn on the hair dryer to blow it with hot air. Otherwise the hat will shrink easily. Similarly, hats should not be placed in direct sunlight.
Method 2: Wash the knitted hat with the washing machine.
Put the knitted hat in the pillowcase. Washing hand-woven hats, especially wool or cashmere hats with a washing machine, is easy to cause damage. To avoid damage, it should be packed in pillowcases, underwear bags or cloth bags that can be washed by washing machines. Zip the bag or tie it up to prevent the hat from falling out. This step is very important, especially when you wash very little clothes.
Wash hats with a lot of clothes. Knitted hats are particularly vulnerable to damage when tossed in the washing machine, so you can wash them with many clothes, which will greatly reduce the space for the hat to swing from side to side. It's just that the clothes to be washed together should be similar in color and material, which is convenient for setting the washing mode.
Fill it with cold water before you start washing. Fill the washing machine with cold water before putting clothes and knitted hats in. Hot water is not used because hot water will make the hat fade and some materials will even shrink. The amount of water should be enough to immerse the clothes. Press the pause button before the washing machine starts stirring.
Add a spoonful of mild detergent. Knitted hats or other clothes for washing wool should be washed with special detergent for washing wool. The detergent used should be mild and should not contain bleaching powder or any irritating chemicals.
Push the hat to the bottom. Many knitted hats, especially wool knitted hats, absorb water very slowly. The hat will float on the water before it is soaked in water. Pressing the hat to the bottom can speed up the water absorption of the hat.
Let the clothes soak in water for a while. Let the hat and other clothes soak in water for 30-60 minutes. If it is a particularly dirty hat, soak it overnight, but not more than one night.
Wash in gentle mode. Generally, a slightly higher-end washing machine will have a soft mode, and some washing machines will be marked with "hand washing mode". If your washing machine doesn't have these modes, you can also use the rotating mode. In soft mode and hand washing mode, the washing machine rotates slowly and gently, but without these modes, the rotation mode is fine, as long as you put your hat in the pillowcase and wash it with a lot of clothes.
Spin dry. If the hat is still wet after spin-drying mode, you can spin it again or squeeze it on a clean towel.
Straighten the hat to dry. Spread a dry and clean towel on a flat surface, and then put the hat on it. It is best to hang the hat in a ventilated place, such as a room with an electric fan. Never hang your hat where there is hot air or direct sunlight. Let the hat dry naturally, which may take several hours or even a whole day.
Method 3: Wash the baseball cap by hand.
Soak the baseball cap in hot water. You can soak the hat in a big bowl, as long as the bowl can hold the hat and the water is enough to immerse the hat. Soak the hat in water for 20-30 minutes, so that the dust on it will be soaked away.
Fill the pool with water and add detergent. The water should be hot, but be careful not to burn yourself. Add15ml detergent to water. The detergent used should not be aromatic or contain any dyes, otherwise it will damage the hat. Stir well by hand.
You can also wash it in the bucket, not in the pool. If your swimming pool is dirty and you are in a hurry to wash your hat, this may be the best solution.
Dip the baseball cap into the pool. Brush the hat with a toothbrush or vegetable brush. Concentrate on the place with the most dirt, and brush lightly where there are trademarks or signs.
Rinse the hat with cold water. Drain the water in the pool, then turn on the tap to make sure the water is cold, then rinse the hat below and rub it with your fingers from time to time until all the detergent is washed away.
Let the hat dry. Put some clean rags in the hat to help it shape, otherwise the hat will be deformed easily and can't be worn.
If you want the hat to dry faster, you can turn on the electric fan and blow it over. But never use hot feng shui, or the hat will shrink.
Method 4: Wash the baseball cap with the dishwasher.
Use the dishwasher. Baseball caps can be machine-washed, but washing them with a washing machine is harmful. In contrast, the water flow in the dishwasher is mild, but the water temperature must be enough to kill the bacteria on the hat.
Put the hat on the lower floor of the dishwasher. In a standard dishwasher, the teeth on the lower layer are often sparse, so that the edge of the hat can be stuck in, and the bowl-shaped part can be stuck on the teeth, so that the hat will not be deformed when washing.
Add detergent to the dishwasher. Whether you use small bags or liquids, detergents are essential. But don't use laundry detergent. It is best to use a mild detergent without any additives or spices.
Set the dishwasher to quick wash mode. Most dishwashers have at least two washing modes: the comprehensive washing mode of washing many bowls at once and the quick washing mode of saving time and water. When washing the hat, choose the fast mode to avoid soaking for too long, otherwise the hat will be easily deformed.
Let the hat dry. Don't use the dishwasher's drying function, but take out the hat, put it in a dry towel, and then lay it flat on another towel to dry, so that it won't deform easily when it is dry.
Method 5: Wash the straw hat by hand
First of all, make sure that this straw hat is washable. Some straw hats are fragile and can't even stand hand washing. But most straw hats can still be washed, just by hand. You must check the label on the hat first. If it is made in Baku, China or Shandong, the hat made of this material can be washed by hand.
If you are not sure whether the material of the straw hat is suitable for washing, you can gently break off the corner of the hat. If there is not much movement, or if it begins to slowly recover its shape after breaking, the toughness of the hat is still ok; If it is easy to Bai Wan, or even damage, then this material is very fragile and not suitable for washing.
Remove the decoration. Straw hats often have ropes, ribbons, buttons or other decorations fixed with craft silk, which can be easily taken down. But if it's sewn with thread, you don't have to take it off.
Dip a clean dish cloth into water with detergent added. Fill the basin with warm water, add a little mild detergent and stir well until foam appears on the water surface. Then soak the clean rag in water, and take it out and wring it out when the water is saturated.
Wipe the straw hat with a wet rag. Wipe the outside of the hat with a dish cloth. If the dishcloth becomes too dry, soak it again to make sure there is enough water to wipe the straw hat.
Wipe off the residual detergent. Wipe off the residual detergent with another wet cloth head. Note that this cloth head is soaked with water, not water with detergent just now. Don't wet the straw hat, or it will shrink easily.
Put the hat on the hat mold to dry. The hat mold can keep the hat in its original shape. If there is no hat model, you can turn a bowl upside down as a hat model and put a hat on it.
Spray hat styling water inside the hat. If there is no hat styling water, you can use other styling water instead, in order to fix the straw inside.
Restore the decoration. After the hat is dried and sprayed with styling water, the ornaments can be restored to their original positions.
