Lixian County, formerly known as Lizhou, is located in the northwest of Hunan Province, the middle and lower reaches of Lishui River and the west bank of Dongting Lake. The development of history
Lixian County is named after the Li River running through the whole territory, which was first seen in Shangshu Gong Yu: "Minshan River leads to the river, with Tuo in the east and Li in the east." The Spring and Autumn Period belongs to Chu, the Qin Dynasty belongs to Qianzhong County, the Han Dynasty belongs to Zero Yang County of Wuling County, and the Three Kingdoms, the Western Jin Dynasty, the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the Southern Dynasties belong to Tianmen County, which was established in the first year of Shaotai of Emperor Liang Jingdi (555).
