Introduction to the background of the Battle of Julu

The Battle of Julu was a major decisive battle in Julu (now Pingxiang, Hebei Province). Xiang Yu led tens of thousands of Chu troops (later governors and insurgents also participated in the war) and led more than 400,000 troops with Qin generals Zhang Han and Wang Li, which was also one of the famous battles in the history of China.

Xiang Yu crossed the rubicon, took the lead in conquering Qin Jun with dauntless spirit when the vassal state army was bogged down, driving the vassal state army to finally destroy the king and leave the army, and forced 200,000 Zhang Han and Qin Jun to surrender a few months later. Since then, Xiang Yu has established a leading position in various rebel armies. After World War I, the main force of the Qin Dynasty was lost, and it existed in name only.

The unification of the six countries by Qin Shihuang is of positive significance to the development of China's history. However, after the establishment of the Qin Dynasty, the criminal policies of cruel exploitation and oppression, exorbitant taxes and miscellaneous levies, and tyranny made "those who stopped work have no rest, those who were hungry and cold had no food and clothing, and those who died had nothing to tell" (The Biography of Han Jia Shan), and the terrible situation of "clothes blocking the road and the city full" appeared throughout the country.

This has led to the comprehensive intensification of social contradictions. Finally, in the first year of Qin Ershi (2 10 BC 10 to September 209 BC), a peasant uprising broke out in Chen Sheng and Guangwu. In September, Xiang Liang, Xiang Yu and Liu Bang rallied in Wuzhong (now Suzhou, Jiangsu) and Peixian (now Xuzhou, Jiangsu). The old nobles of the six countries who were destroyed by Qin also took the opportunity to arise, and there was a situation in which the world opposed Qin.

The rulers of the Qin dynasty were unwilling to quit the historical stage, dying, dispatching troops and suppressing peasant uprisings. One of the most fierce, is less government forces under the command of Zhang Han. When Guangwu, Chen Sheng and Zhou Wen's troops marched westward to Xianyang, it was too late for the Qin Dynasty to mobilize the army to resist, so Zhang Han, a junior official, suggested to Qin Ershi.

Forgive criminals and slaves in Mount Li, arm them against the insurgents, and take Zhang Han as the main commander. As the main force in Qin Jun, Zhang Hanjun fought fiercely with the peasant army. First, the insurgents of Chen Sheng and Wang Wei were suppressed, and then the armed forces of Qi and Wang Wei were eliminated. Then it turned around and pounced on the main force of Chu rebels led by Xiang Liang and others.
