As a folk cultural activity of Han nationality, temple fairs in urban and rural areas have a long history and are full of feudal superstitions. In order to pray for the blessing of the gods, people choose the birthday of the legendary bodhisattva and perform at the temple fair to reward the gods. There are even competitions to greet the gods, burning incense and chanting Buddha, a wide variety of folk acrobatics, a gathering of vendors, thriving business and following customs. On the day of the temple fair, every household prepared dishes. There are 8 temples in Xiangshan, just like mountain scenery. Since the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty, the temple fair has been held on the 15th day of the third lunar month. Bodhisattvas from all walks of life were carried out, put on new robes and accepted sacrifices. Then, according to the ancient officialdom, all the deacons held ceremonial ceremonies, waved flags and held umbrellas, and went out in a mighty way. Among them, there are Han folk literature and art boat swings, tea and wine poles, walking on stilts, and Taige fairy cows drawing water. The whole Xiangshan Mountain and its surrounding four small market towns, Cang Xie Bridge, Wenzhan Bridge, Sanjia and Wang Jiadai, are very lively, and farmers buy back the farm tools and daily necessities they need through this annual festival. In the temple fairs on March 27th and 28th in Junshan, Jiangyin, incense flourished. Good men and women in every township, in droves, hold incense stools and worship, known as Wen Xiang; There are even people who hang meat incense, hook it on their arms with many steel needles, and hang gongs and incense burners below, weighing more than 50 kilograms, which are called five spices. Urban roads are impassable, which is the prosperity of Japan's material exchange, and the profit of shops is several times.
After liberation, with the improvement of productivity and the gradual popularization of culture and science, temple fairs also died out involuntarily. Since 1953, Jiangyin County People's Government has actively advocated that all localities use temple fairs to hold material exchange meetings between urban and rural areas, so as to invigorate the rural economy, and people are still used to calling them festivals. Buying and selling goods, visiting relatives and friends, performing in groups, showing movies and sports competitions, and updating content are all very popular among the people.
After the Lantern Festival, Jiangyin began to gather around! From the eighth day of the second lunar month to the 28th of August, there are more than 40 meeting places in Jiangyin.
