How to make lanterns?
Methods and steps of making lanterns by hand

First, the required materials:

1, lantern skeleton: part of cardboard (waste packaging box), color copy paper.

2. Exterior decoration of lanterns: some red cardboard (the bigger the better, or other red wrapping paper), three cartoon New Year pictures (stickers), three greeting cards, six paper cores, some red Spring Festival couplets (couplets), diamond stickers, blessing stickers, Chinese knots (purchased or homemade) and so on.

3. Tool materials: scissors, paper cutter, wide adhesive tape, double-sided adhesive tape, glue, glue stick, rope, etc.

Second, the production process:

(1) Make lantern skeleton.

Because it is a double hexagonal palace lantern, the most important thing is to build a skeleton, which can be divided into two parts:

1, make the lantern skeleton first. Cut 12 pieces of rectangular cardboard with the same size into vertical splicing as shown in the figure, and stick them firmly. The size of each skeleton depends on the size of the lantern. What we make is a big lantern, and each skeleton is about the size of an ordinary greeting card.

2. Then make the upper lantern skeleton. Cut 12 pieces of rectangular cardboard with the same size into horizontal splicing as shown in the figure, and stick them firmly. The size of each skeleton should be coordinated with the lantern skeleton below.

(2) Exterior decoration of upper and lower lanterns

1, the lower part is mainly lanterns, and the external decoration should be exquisite and shiny. Of course, lanterns are bright red and the most beautiful. So I chose to wrap and paste the six sides of the lower layer with red cardboard. Six sides are pasted with different patterns, namely, three Year of the Sheep stickers and three three-dimensional pattern greeting cards.

2. Underneath the lantern: seal the lantern decoration with the ready-made golden blessing, and then tie the Chinese knot as the bottom decoration.

3. Exterior decoration of the upper lanterns: auspicious greetings and auspicious cloud patterns are printed on cardboard respectively, and then pasted firmly. In order to reflect the requirements of children's participation, I asked Ann to put up many colorful and shiny diamond stickers outside the lanterns. Under the light, lanterns are more shining and gorgeous.

4. Flight angle of lanterns upstairs: I use environmentally friendly materials-waste paper core. It's a good thing I kept it before After the six paper cores are built to size, paste red couplets (or other red paper).

5. Decorate the six flying corners of the lantern: self-made red tassels (tassels) are attached under the flying corners.

6. Decorate the top of the lantern: Cover the top of the lantern with a red packaging bag (or other hard wrapping paper).

(3) Connecting the upper and lower lanterns: connect the upper and lower lanterns with colored or red thick ropes, and fix the bottom of the upper lantern skeleton with the top skeleton of the lower lantern.

In this way, a red lantern is ready.
