Les died of illness at his home in West Witering, Sussex, England on April 22nd, 1933, at the age of 70. After his death, his body was buried in the cemetery of Orwellton parish church in his hometown. Lord Delhi of London, then Minister of Air Force, immediately sent a message of condolence behind Les, saying that his death was a great loss to the development of British aviation and praised his cooperation with the Air Force during his lifetime. Since Les died childless and had no heir, his hereditary title of Baron was cut off. On June 6th, his estate was appraised as 1933, with a total value of112,598 pounds and 8 shillings.
In order to commemorate Rice's achievements, many things in Britain are named after him, including the Royal Hall and the student dormitory of Louvre University.
