Suizhou is located in the north of Hubei Province, where the world-famous chimes have been unearthed, and it is also the birthplace of China's ancestor, Shennong, Yan Di. Suizhou is located at the intersection of the Yangtze River Basin and Huaihe River Basin.
It borders Wuhan in the east, Xiangyang in the west, Nanyang and Xinyang in the north and Jingzhou in the south. It is the "North Gate" of Hubei, located at the crossroads of Jingyu and Han Xiang.
It is an important relay station and transit station for the country to implement the strategy of developing the western region from east to west. It was established as a prefecture-level city with the approval of the State Council on June 25th, 2000. The city covers an area of 9636 square kilometers.
