Yexian County, alias Kunyang, belongs to Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, and is located in the southwest of central Henan Province. There are abundant salt resources in the underground of Yexian County. There is a super-large high-quality salt deposit-"Yexian Yantian" about100 meters underground in Yexian. Yantian covers an area of more than 400 square kilometers, and the prospective resources of salt-bearing basins are 330 billion tons, accounting for 75% of the salt resources in Henan Province. The average content of sodium chloride is between 85% and 95%, ranking first in the country in terms of mineral salt, with large single layer thickness and very moderate burial depth, which is convenient for exploitation and utilization.
1987 Yantian has been officially developed for 20 years. From small-scale single brine extraction to large-scale salt production, salt chemical industry, modern salt circulation and distribution and other comprehensive development and utilization stages. While realizing its own weakness and growing up, it also promoted the rapid development of related industries. On September 29th, 2007, Yexian was named "Rock Salt Capital of China" by China Mining Association.
