Koguryo (37 BC-668 AD), also known as Korea (not later established by Wang Jian), was an important frontier ethnic group in northeastern China from the Western Han Dynasty to the Sui and Tang Dynasties. During the Zhou and Qin Dynasties, Goguryeo's ancestors lived in the northeast.

In 37 BC, widow Zhu Meng established political power in Koguryo County, Xuantu County. In its heyday, Goguryeo's sphere of influence included the southeast of Jilin, the east of Liaohe River and the northern part of the Korean Peninsula. In 668 AD, Goguryeo was destroyed by the Tang Dynasty in conjunction with Silla in the southeast of the Korean Peninsula, which lasted for 705 years.

7,000 tombs of the Koguryo era are located outside Koguryo, on the Donggou Plain surrounded by mountains. Many tombs are characterized by exquisite murals with smooth lines, rich contents and legendary myths. Although more than a thousand years have passed, they are still brightly colored.

Among them, General Cemetery on the cliff at the foot of Longshan Mountain, 4 kilometers northeast of Ji 'an City, Tonghua, has been verified as the tomb of the 20th generation longevity king, which is quite similar to the tomb of the ancient Egyptian Pharaoh and is known as the "Oriental Pyramid". The length of General Cemetery is 3 1m and the height is 12m. The mausoleum is a square cone with seven steps. Koguryo capital

This was the capital of Koguryo in the early and middle period (A.D.1-5th century), and it was also the capital of Koguryo regime with the longest continuous use. Domestic cities are one of the few plain cities with stone walls on their surfaces. The preserved wall is still solid, beautiful and solemn, especially in the style of the capital.

Maludo Mountain City is located in the hilly area with a low slope to the west. The layout is ingeniously conceived and reasonably planned due to the mountain trend, which perfectly realizes the integration of natural features and humanistic creation. The remains of the palace ruins presented through archaeological excavation can still show the grandeur of the original building.

Two octagonal sites with symmetrical structures were excavated in the building complex. Domestic historians believe that octagonal buildings often appear in temples and other places, which may be places where sacrifices and ceremonies are held. Among the medieval city ruins in Northeast Asia, the Inner City and Marudao Mountain City are masterpieces of capital architecture.
