At the end of the Sui Dynasty, the world was in harmony. In 6 17, Li Yuan, Duke of the Tang Dynasty, set out for Jinyang. The following year, he proclaimed himself emperor and established the Tang Dynasty, with Chang 'an as his capital. After Emperor Taizong succeeded to the throne, he initiated the rule of chastity and laid the foundation for the prosperous Tang Dynasty. Tang Gaozong inherited the legacy of Zhenguan, initiated the "rule of eternal emblem", and established Luoyang as its capital in 657.
