The pagoda in Jingxian County of Hengshui, formerly known as "Sakyamuni Pagoda", is located in the original "kaifu temple" in the northwest corner of Jingxian County. Although the pagoda was destroyed, the temple still exists, commonly known as "Jingzhou Tower".
The stupa has a long history and a large scale, and it is a relatively well-preserved ancient building. The tower is a 13-story octagonal pyramid with a height of 63.85 meters and a bottom circumference of 50.5 meters. Boulders are laid under the tower and bricks are laid on it. There are caves on the east, west, north and south floors of the tower. There are hundreds of spiral steps in the tower, which can reach the top. Climbing high and looking far, there are thousands of miles of wealth. At the top of the tower is a 2.05-meter-high copper gourd, and there is a 3.3-meter-high barbed wire seat under the copper gourd. Every time the wind blows, the holes in the barbed wire seat and tower body sway with the wind, making waves, so it has the reputation of "windy and stormy ancient pagoda".
There is no evidence to show when the ancient pagoda was built. However, according to the Records of Jingxian County, there is an iron plaque hanging from the upper floor of the ancient pagoda in kaifu temple, the county seat, and the words "Rebuilt in Qi and Sui Dynasties" are cast in the plaque, which was rebuilt in Qi and Sui Dynasties, and the date of its tower construction should be in the Northern Wei Dynasty. According to this theory, this tower is nearly 1500 years ago. The thousand-year-old pagodas are well preserved to this day, which depends on many times of reconstruction in past dynasties. After the founding of New China alone, it was rebuilt four times. The last renovation was in the spring of 1973. During the maintenance, three volumes and nine volumes of the Ming Dynasty woodblock Buddhist scriptures were found in the copper gourd at the top of the tower, and a bronze Buddha of Sakyamuni, with a length of 20cm, a width of1.5cm and a height of 12cm.
Now, because it is found that some brick structures above the seventh and eighth floors of the tower have loosened, cracks have appeared in the arches, and the bottom door has been blocked, the tour of the tower has been declined, and only the majestic posture of the pagoda can be seen nearby. Baoyun Tower, formerly known as Qingtian Tower, is located in the east of the old city village in the southwest of Hengshui City. The pagoda was originally in Baoyun Temple, so it was called Baoyun Pagoda. In the 13th year of Yongle in Ming Dynasty (14 15), the county town was moved from the old city village to this site due to the flood, and Baoyun Temple also moved with the city. However, although the temple moved, the tower did not move and stood at the original site. Under the shade of green trees, the tower stands tall and spectacular.
