Marriage receipt
The bride price can be refunded, but not necessarily in full. It is more likely to return most of the bride price.

Interpretation II of Marriage Law stipulates that,

Article 10 The people's court shall support the request of a party to return the bride price paid according to the custom if it is found that it belongs to the following circumstances:

(1) Both parties have not gone through the marriage registration formalities;

(2) Both parties have gone through the marriage registration formalities, but they have not lived together;

(3) premarital payment, causing difficulties to the payer.

The application of items (2) and (3) of the preceding paragraph is conditional on the divorce of both parties.

First of all, the man and the woman are not registered to get married, so it is not a legal relationship between husband and wife, but a ceremony is held, which is an illegal cohabitation relationship and can be separated by themselves.

Secondly, the bride price man can negotiate with the woman first to see if the two sides can reach an agreement. If negotiation fails, the man may bring a lawsuit to the people's court in person. Of course, you need evidence: ID card, gift list, witness or matchmaker, and other evidence that can prove the amount and facts of your gift (it doesn't matter whether the woman has received the receipt or not, it's best). You also need a complaint stating your demands, of course, asking the defendant to return the bride price, and also stating your facts and reasons (if you can't write it, you can write it in a law firm or dictate it to the court clerk). Of course, the legal basis is that paragraphs 10 and 3 above can be applied.

According to legal practice, under normal circumstances, you are living together, and some expenses will naturally occur during this period, such as sharing living expenses with bride price and buying clothes and furniture. These are all expenses, and the court will comprehensively consider the money spent, so it will generally not be returned to you in full. You'd better be prepared for this. I think the ring for future children is also a part of the bride price, and you can get it back. The ring has been paid, but the conditions have not been met. Of course, it must be returned.

I wish you all the best, and you can call me if you have any questions ~
