I. Introduction
Color gives people the feeling of "cold and warm", that is, "cold and warm feeling". Using the "cold feeling" of color can also form one of the color matching methods. The following article is my summary of the "cold feeling" color scheme. Firstly, this paper introduces the concepts of "cold feeling and color cold feeling"; Secondly, "cold and warm contrast and its characteristics"; Finally, it is "how to use cold and warm contrast color matching". The inspiration for this article comes from Color Composition edited by Yu Guorui. The purpose of writing this article is to consolidate the basic knowledge of color matching.
Second, "cold and warm feeling" and "color cold and warm"
Cold and warm feeling: refers to the skin's feeling of external temperature. For example, the scorching sun gives people a very hot feeling, and the skin feels high temperature, which is a warm feeling; Ice gives people a cold feeling, and the skin feels cold, which is the feeling of cold.
Color change under temperature: professional interpretation refers to the visual and psychological mutual experience and interrelated intuitive effect. Simply put, it is the psychological feeling after the eyes see it. Therefore, the temperature of color is a relative rather than an absolute subjective feeling.
Third, the contrast between cold and warm.
Cold and warm contrast: refers to the contrast formed by the cold and warm differences in color perception. In color contrast, the coldest is blue, the warmest is orange, and blue and orange are the poles of cold and warm colors. By connecting the cold and warm poles of blue and orange on the color ring, warm colors, cool colors, neutral warm colors and neutral cool colors can be clearly distinguished. (As shown in the figure below, 1)
Warm colors: orange, yellow, red
Cool colors: blue, blue purple, turquoise.
Neutral warm colors: yellow-green, red-purple
Neutral cool colors: purple, green
Fourth, the characteristics of cold and warm contrast
1, hue determines the feeling of cold and warm.
In color and neutral color, the hue of color is distinct, so it is easy to distinguish its cold and warm. For example, yellow is warm and lake blue is cool, but purity and lightness will also affect the feeling of cold and warm colors. High purity tends to be cold, low purity tends to be warm, high brightness tends to be cold, and low brightness tends to be warm. This cold and warm characteristic is a magic weapon to identify neutral colors such as black, white, gray, gold and silver. Black is warm because of low brightness, and white is cold because of high brightness.
2. Relative cold and warm feeling
Which color is warmer and which color is colder is relative. In the contrast of warm and cold colors, there are overall differences between warm and cold, such as warm vermilion and scarlet, vermilion is warmer and scarlet is colder.
3, the change of cold and warm feeling
Due to the contrast of different colors, differences in lightness and purity, the cold and warm properties of colors may also change. For example, blue is a cool color. After adding some black, the brightness and purity will decrease, and it will also become warm dark blue.
Five, the application of "cold and warm feeling" for color matching practice.
Step 1: Set four groups of colors: warm color, cool color, neutral warm color and neutral cool color (as shown in Figure 2 below).
Step 2: Apply four groups of colors to the following figure to get four color matching effects (as shown below).
By comparing the four groups of cold and warm, four groups of color matching are obtained, and each color matching gives people a different feeling. Choose the most suitable color scheme according to your own needs or preferences.
Summary:
1, the "cold and warm feeling" of color is a relative subjective feeling, so the designer's color sense is very important. He believes in his color sense and dares to try.
2. "Cold and warm feeling" color matching method can be used as a color matching method for many theme designs. In the face of different themes, we can first freeze the "cold and warm tones" of colors so as to carry out the next design. For example, with the theme of "autumn harvest", the color matching should be "warm". After the "warm and cold tone" is decided, the next step will be clearer.
