Shizuishan City is located in the north of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, between east longitude105 58 ′ ~106 39 ′ and north latitude 38 21′ ~ 39 25 ′.
Shizuishan City is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It is located in the northernmost part of Ningxia, adjacent to Ordos Platform in the east, northern Yinchuan Plain in the west, across the Yellow River in the east and adjacent to Ordos City in Inner Mongolia. It faces Helan Mountain in the west and Alxa League in Inner Mongolia across the mountain. The Yellow River in the north is adjacent to Otog Houqi in Inner Mongolia; The southern part of Yinchuan Plain borders xingqing district and Helan County, the capital of Yinchuan City.
The urban area is 53 10 square kilometers. Shizuishan city is named after the "rocks protruding like mouths" on both sides of the Yellow River, with beautiful scenery. Shizuishan City, known as "Frontier Coal City", is famous for producing anthracite.
Originally, Shizuishan City has three districts and three counties, namely Dawukou District, Shizuishan District, Shitan Scenic Area, Pingluo County, Tao Le County and Huinong County. 200 1 Shitanjing area was abolished and merged with the original Dawukou area to form a new Dawukou area. In 2003, Huinong County and Tao Le County were abolished, the original Huinong County and Shizuishan District were merged into the new Huinong Agricultural Area, and the original Tao Le County and the original Pingluo County were merged into the new Pingluo County.
Shizuishan, commonly known as Shizuizi, is named after the prominent rocks of Helan Mountain. Julian County (now Pingluo County) was the first county-level administrative system in the history of China in the fourth year of the Western Han Dynasty (BC 1 19).
