In Gaozhai Miao Buyi Township, southwest of the county seat, the Bull Running Festival is held in Pingzhai at the beginning of March every year. Men dressed in costumes, leading the bullfight, carrying Lusheng to the bullring. At noon, in the bullring, generally, adult men herd cattle and duel, and young men and women jump into the garden in another venue. Young men play lusheng, followed by young women. At the same time, tug-of-war, fighting thrush, torsion bar, cockfighting, etc.
June sixth
The most grand festival among Buyi traditional festivals. On the sixth day of June every year, Buyi villages are cleaned inside and outside, and pigs are killed to borrow wine to remember their ancestors. Men, women and children, dressed in costumes, gathered in the wilderness lawn to hold activities such as playing suona, dancing lanterns, fighting thrush and singing love songs. In the meantime, young Buyi men and women are most interested in songs, and they gather in secluded places in groups of three to five to find their lovers, which is called expressing their hearts to each other.
Killing fish festival
Every year around Tomb-Sweeping Day, the fish-killing activities organized by Miao cells are unique grand festivals of Miao cells. The activity was held in Qingshui River 10 km at the junction of Kaiyang, Guiding, Longli and Fuquan counties. Men carry forks and medicine on their backs, women are dressed in costumes, and fish rice and rice are gathered on the banks of the river, forming a queue several kilometers long.
