Singing the tune, formerly known as picking tea and singing the tune, was popular in central and southern Guangxi in the late Qing Dynasty and was one of the popular folk operas in Liujiang area. The singing style is simple and natural, vivid and smooth.

It usually ends with "river hi, river hi, river hi, river hi, river hi, river hi, river hi" and "river hi, river hi, river hi". During the performance, the movements are more relaxed and lively. Traditional programs often performed in this area include Shi Chong Looking for a Wife, Fool Selling Yarn, Finding a Husband in Yunnan, Changing Shops and Wives, etc.

During the Republic of China, Zeng Caidiao's old master came to inherit the art. After liberation, after the reform and rectification of the district cultural department, the aria and lyrics were constantly improved, adding new content, making Caidiao more popular with the masses.
