Magpie means "happiness", and two magpies are double happiness; Plum blossom means "eyebrow" with the same sound. Plum blossom is the flower of spring. There are two magpies standing on the top of the plum blossom, which means: magpies make plum blossoms, double happiness, jubilation, and spring scenery.

According to the Jin Dynasty's Bird Classic, Lingque Zhao Qian and Kaiyuan Tianbao Legacy, "People at home think they are happy to hear the sound of magpies, so they are called magpies' good news." It can be seen that as early as before the Tang Dynasty, people had regarded magpies as a good omen.
