An artillery company, class three soldier Liu Yingjun and several comrades-in-arms drove three cannons and went out for training along the suburban highway. Near the bus stop, the iron horse of the cannon car driven by Liu Yingjun was startled by the horn of the car and suddenly turned around and ran away.

At that time, it was the time when students went to school and workers went to work. People come and go in expressway. The horses and chariots rushed towards the crowd, and the situation was very critical. When Liu Yingjun saw this scene, he used his quick wits and rushed to the neck of Jing Ma with his shoulder, forcing Jing Ma to turn into the path on the left side of expressway, thus avoiding a possible serious accident.

However, the danger did not disappear, and the iron horse ran faster and faster in people's shouts. Liu Yingjun pulled the reins tightly, and his body was dragged by horses and chariots. The situation is very dangerous. People who witnessed the scene shouted, "Let go! Let go! " However, Liu Yingjun, with a strong sense of responsibility, did not listen to people's advice, and still ignored his personal safety and devoted himself to subduing horses and protecting the masses.

Suddenly, Liu Yingjun found that in the center of the road not far ahead, six children were stunned by the cars and horses and got together. Children's lives are at stake. At this critical moment, Liu Yingjun immediately wrapped the reins around his arms several times, jerked them, twisted his horse's head, and his front hoof soared.

Taking this opportunity, Liu Yingjun, regardless of the danger, supported the shaft with both hands, extended his foot from under the shaft to the hind leg of the frightened horse, and kicked it with all his strength. The horse was kicked down, the car overturned not far from six children, and six children escaped safely. Liu Yingjun was crushed under a heavy cannon truck and fainted.

People who witnessed this heroic act of sacrificing themselves to save others rushed forward to rescue him and sent him to a nearby hospital for rescue. Everyone said, "Give whatever you want, just save the hero!" "In the operating room of hospital surgery, there are also more than 30 hospital leaders and doctors who have heard the news. After struggling for three hours, Liu Yingjun died of his injuries at the age of 2 1 year.

Liu Yingjun (1945- 1966), whose ancestral home is Ziqiao Village, Gucheng Township, Shouguang City, moved to Changchun in Northeast China to make a living because of his poor family, and settled in the suburbs on 1938. Liu Yingjun was born in this poor peasant family in 1945. In the summer of 1962, 18-year-old Liu Yingjun took an active part in the China People's Liberation Army, full of the desire to defend the motherland.

After Liu Yingjun joined the army, it was time to advocate learning from Lei Feng and Chairman Mao's works. He studied tirelessly, followed Lei Feng's example everywhere, set strict demands on himself, consciously did good for the company and the people, and was willing to be an unsung hero. Liu Yingjun kept his promise all his life.

After Liu Yingjun's sacrifice, the Party Committee of his unit ratified him as party member, and recorded the first class merit. People from all walks of life in Hejiang and Jiamusi held a grand memorial service. Jiamusi people demanded that Liu Yingjun's body be buried in Jiamusi.

To commemorate this hero, the masses planted a pine tree and built a five-star flower bed around the place where Liu Yingjun died. Passers-by looked at Song Qing admiringly and remembered the hero who gave himself up to save others.

On July 4th, 1966, People's Daily reported to the whole country with the title of "Liu Yingjun's Heroic Sacrifice to Defend People's Security", calling on everyone to learn from his materialistic spirit.
