The origin of the name of Hall of Supreme Harmony:

The Hall of Supreme Harmony was built in the 18th year of Yongle in Ming Dynasty, and it is called Fengtian Hall. In the forty-first year of Jiajing, it was renamed the Imperial Palace. In the second year of Qing Shunzhi, it was changed to the Hall of Supreme Harmony. It has been burned and rebuilt many times.

It is supported by the roof of the double-eaved palace and is located on three white marble steps. It is painted with golden dragons and seals. There are as many as 1 1 fairy beasts on the roof, and 1 1 bays, all of which are the highest in shape and are one of the largest existing wooden structures in China.

The decoration of the Hall of Supreme Harmony is very gorgeous. Under the eaves, the dense buckets and indoor and outdoor beams are decorated with the highest-grade seal color paintings. The upper part of the door and window is inlaid with rhombus, the lower part is embossed with dragon pattern, and the tenon is equipped with gold-plated copper leaves engraved with dragon pattern.

The floor of the main hall is paved with gold bricks, and the floor of the Hall of Supreme Harmony is paved with 4,718 large gold bricks with a square of two feet. But bricks are not made of gold, they are specially made in Suzhou. Its surface is light black, oily and bright, not astringent and not slippery.
