Wei Chuanyi (famous painter)
Wei Chuanyi (1928.5—) was born in Daxian Village, Dazhou City, Sichuan Province. In his early years, he studied in the oil painting training class of Sichuan Provincial Art Institute and Central Academy of Fine Arts. He has served as the director of educational administration in sichuan fine arts institute, the vice president of Sichuan Academy of Poetry and Calligraphy, the dean, professor and tutor of master students of Xiamen University School of Art Education. He is currently the deputy director of the Painting and Calligraphy Office of Fujian Provincial People's Congress, consultant of Fujian Artists Association, honorary president of China Bashu Children's Association, president of Fujian Art Education Research Association, director of Fujian International Economic and Cultural Exchange Center, honorary president of Xiamen University Art Research Institute and dean of Xiamen Painting and Calligraphy Education Research Institute. He has been teaching in art colleges for more than 40 years and is good at Chinese and Western painting and calligraphy. His works have participated in many important exhibitions at home and abroad, and held solo exhibitions in Beijing, Fuzhou, Manila, Singapore, Malaysia and other places. Most of his works have been collected, published or won prizes. His calligraphy and painting works won the international special gold medal in the International Economic Calligraphy Exhibition jointly organized by China Calligraphy Association and China Artists Association. He was awarded an art education award by Wu Zuoren International Art Foundation, and a special honorary certificate and allowance by the State Council. Editor-in-chief has published Wei Chuanyi Art Album, Wei Chuanyi Painting Collection-Selected Flowers and Birds in China, Haifeng Pavilion Poetry Draft and Introduction to China Painting and Calligraphy VCD. It has been listed in China Contemporary New Literature and Art Department, China Fine Arts Yearbook, China Contemporary Artists CD, China Contemporary Artists Collection and Selected Works of 100 Famous Painters in China. His works include "Green Bamboo Path", "Chunhui" and "Red Plum Map".
Yang Mu (a famous poet)
Yang Muqu, a native of the county, is currently a member of the Committee of the Chinese Writers Association, the vice chairman of the Sichuan Writers Association, and the editor-in-chief of Star Poetry. He published his first novel in the 1950s and studied poetry again in the late 1970s. He has published more than 20 works, including poetry anthology The Sea of Resurrection, Wild Rose, Hero, Wild Soul and a long autobiography Wandering in the Western Regions. His poem "I am a Youth" and novel "Under Sirius" have won many national awards, and some of his works have been selected into college liberal arts textbooks and some of his works. Pang Zhonghua (famous calligrapher)
Pang Zhonghua (1945—), a native of Dazhou, Sichuan, is a famous calligrapher, educator and poet. The main pioneer of hard pen calligraphy in contemporary China. He is currently Chairman of China Hard Pen Calligraphers Association and Dean of Pang Zhonghua Hard Pen Calligraphers College. He was elected as a member of the Eighth China People's Political Consultative Conference. Pang Zhonghua has been practicing hard-pen calligraphy for decades, and he knows famous calligraphy like the back of his hand. He believes that we should not blindly copy the calligraphy of our predecessors and lose ourselves, but should constantly innovate. In his words, it is to "read ancient books and write modern Chinese characters".
