Yao's Long Drum Dance is one of the national intangible cultural heritages.

Yao's Long Drum Dance is a folk dance in China where Yao people live in compact communities. It is called "Aiwangdu" in Yao language, also known as "beating horizontal drums" and "jumping flower drums", and is popular in Jianghua Yao Autonomous County of Hunan Province, Liannan Yao Autonomous County of Guangdong Province and fuchuan yao autonomous county of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

There are various performance routines of Yao nationality's Long Drum Dance, or they specialize in building houses or incorporate interesting animal and plant forms into the dance. Yao's Long Drum Dance is mostly performed on traditional festivals of Yao nationality and on days to celebrate harvest, housewarming or wedding.

On June 7th, 2008, Yao Changgu, jointly declared by Jianghua Yao Autonomous County of Hunan Province, Liannan Yao Autonomous County of Guangdong Province and fuchuan yao autonomous county of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list (No.III-60) with the approval of China people and the State Council.

Yao nationality's Long Drum Dance has a long history. It was born out of the ritual table of Wang Yi, who originated very early, and some dances in witchcraft activities. Now it has developed into a mass entertainment activity. The Yao Long Drum Dance in Liannan was introduced when the ancestors of Paiyao moved to Liannan in Sui and Tang Dynasties, and then it became popular with the prosperity of Guage Hall.

The long drum is called "gong" in Yao language, and the drums are butted with two drums. The waist is thin and can be held, and both ends are wrapped in sheepskin. There are various performance routines of Yao nationality's Long Drum Dance, or they specialize in building houses or incorporate interesting animal and plant forms into the dance. Dance movements are vigorous, rough, lively, magical and imaginative.

From the performance form, Yao's Long Drum Dance includes Pangu Long Drum Dance, Long Drum Dance, Table Head Drum Dance, Lusheng Long Drum Dance and Short Drum Dance. According to the number of performers, it also includes solo dance, duet dance and group dance. In performance, drum drama can be divided into "martial arts" and "literary fighting", as well as "high stakes" and "short stakes".
