The tower was built in Yuan You period of Song Dynasty (1086- 1094), and Yao Mingding, a newcomer from Deqing County, built the tower on the top of the mountain. The Orthodox Church was rebuilt in Ming Dynasty (144 1) and restored in the 27th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (190 1). The tower is an octagonal seven-story pavilion-style brick-wood structure with a height of 38 meters and a diameter of 6 meters. The tower seat is Mount Sumi, which is made of flower rock. The waist is carved with playful patterns such as lions, bats, lotus leaves, lotus flowers, peony branches and flowers. There are arches on each floor, staggered. The eaves of the tower are paved with five layers of bricks, carved into flower stone corner beams, and the vertical ridges are covered with tower tiles. There used to be iron bells hanging on the eaves. There are brick steps in the tower, which can reach the top of the tower directly.
1August, 984 Hanshan Tower was listed as a municipal cultural relics protection unit.
