Chapter three. Wedding day
I suddenly opened my eyes.
For a few minutes, I was shivering in the warm bed, panting, trying to get rid of the nightmare. While I was waiting for inner peace, the sky outside the window had turned gray and soon turned pale pink.
When I finally returned to my messy and familiar room in reality, I was a little angry with myself. What kind of dream did I have the night before the wedding? Midnight dreams make me so uneasy.
Anxious to get rid of this nightmare, I quickly got dressed and went down to the kitchen much earlier than usual. First, I cleaned the tidy house, and then after Charlie got up, I helped him make pancakes. I was too nervous today, so I didn't concentrate on breakfast. I was fidgeting in my chair while Charlie was eating.
"You are going to pick up Mr. Webber at 3 o'clock this afternoon," I reminded him.
"I have nothing to do today but pick up the priest, Bella. I can't forget this only task. " Charlie asked for a day off for the wedding, but in the end he had nothing to do. From time to time, he would sneak his eyes at the wardrobe under the stairs, where his fishing gear was kept.
"That's not your only job. You have to dress appropriately. "
He stared morosely at his bowl of cereal and muttered the word "formal uniform".
There was a clear knock at the front door.
"Do you think you are the only one suffering?" I said, standing up morosely. "Alice will chase me all day today."
Charlie nodded thoughtfully, acknowledging that he was much more miserable than me. I shaved the top of his head when I passed him. He blushed and cleared his throat. I ran to the door to meet my good sister and prospective sister-in-law.
Alice's short black hair is not as short as usual, but is fixed into a small roll with fashionable pins, which sets off her strange face, but her expression is serious. She hurried back, shouted "Hello, Charlie" and dragged me away from home.
When I got into Alice's Porsche, she gave me the following comments.
"Oh, shit, look at your eyes!" She shouted reproachfully. "What did you do? Didn't sleep all night? "
"Almost."
She stared at me. "I spent so much time preparing to give you a surprise, Bella. You should protect my raw materials. "
"I wouldn't be surprised. I'm thinking of a bigger problem. I may fall asleep in the middle of the ceremony, then miss saying' I do' at the right time, and then Edward will run away. "
She smiled. "At that time, I will wake you up with a bouquet."
"Thank you."
"Anyway, you can have a good sleep on the plane tomorrow."
I raised my eyebrows. Tomorrow, I will be lost in thought. If we get on the plane as soon as the reception is over today, then we will get on the plane tomorrow ... Well, we shouldn't go to Boise. Edward never gave any hints. I am not keen on this puzzle, but I don't know where I will sleep tomorrow night. That's weird. Or I wish I didn't have to sleep ... Alice realized that she seemed to have made a slip of the tongue and frowned.
"It's all done for you." She tried to distract me.
This is very effective. "Alice, I hope you can let me pack my own bags!"
"This will reveal more secrets."
"This will ruin your chances of shopping again."
"/kloc-you will be my official sister-in-law in 0/0 hours ... it's time to stop rejecting new clothes."
I can only stare at the windshield of the car until we are almost home.
"Is he back already?" I asked.
"Don't worry, he will appear before the music starts. But no matter when he comes back, you won't see him. We must do it in the traditional way. "
I snorted contemptuously. "tradition!"
"Yes, the bride and groom can't meet."
"You know he can peek at what you want to see."
"Oh, no, that's why I'm the only one who has seen you in a wedding dress. When he is here, I will be careful not to think about it. "
"Well," I said as we turned into the driveway, "I see you are reusing the decorations for your graduation party again."
The 3-mile-long driveway was once again covered with shining lights. This time, she added a bow made of white ribbon.
"Don't waste, also don't want to waste. Enjoy it, because you won't have a chance to see the decoration in the house. Not yet. " She parked her car in the garage in the north of the house; Emmett's jeep didn't stop there.
"Since when can't even the bride look at decorations?" I'll refute it immediately.
"Since she decided to leave it to me. I want to impress you when you walk down the stairs. "
Before she let me into the kitchen, she covered my eyes with her hand. Then a fragrance came to my face.
"What's that?" I asked her curiously when she took me into the house.
"Is it too pungent?" Alice's voice immediately became worried. "You are the first human to come here. I hope I didn't do anything wrong. "
"It smells good!" I assured her that the fragrance was intoxicating and not irritating, and there was a delicate balance between the various fragrances. "Citrus ... Lily ... and some others, am I right?"
"Very well, Bella. You only left freesia and roses. "
She didn't take her hands off my eyes until we got to her exaggerated bathroom. I stared at the long cabinet with all the beauty products in the beauty salon. I had a hunch that it was another sleepless night.
"Is this really necessary? No matter what I dress up, standing next to him becomes inconspicuous. "
She pushed me into a short pink chair. "As long as I built it, no one will say that you are plain."
"That's because they are all afraid that you will suck their blood," I muttered. I leaned back in my chair and closed my eyes, hoping to take a nap. It's over. I vaguely feel that she is helping me to do my face, massage and "polish" every inch of my skin.
Rosalie sneaked into the bathroom after lunch. She was wearing a shiny silver evening dress, with long blonde hair curled loosely around her head. She is so beautiful that I want to cry. What's the point of wearing it next to Rosalie?
"They came back," Rosalie said, and suddenly my childish despair disappeared. Edward is at home.
"Don't let him in!"
"He won't see you today," Rosalie assured her again. "He has to hurry. Esme told them to finish everything outside before they came back. You want to help? I'm here to help her do her hair. "
My jaw almost fell off. I struggled in my confused mind, trying to remember how to close this jaw.
I have never been the person Rosalie likes in this world. And because she didn't personally agree with my decision, our relationship became even more awkward. Although she has the loveliest family and soul mate emmett in the world, she still wants to choose to be human. And here I am, throwing away everything she craves like garbage.
All these make her feel unhappy with me.
"Of course," Alice readily agreed. "You can start braiding. I hope it can be a little more complicated and exquisite. The veil passes through here and is pressed below. " She combed a lock of hair, lifted it and twisted it into a lock, sorting out the details she wanted. After her demonstration, Rosalie began to take over and began to fiddle with my hair like a feather. Alice began to pay attention to my facial work again.
As soon as Rosalie got Alice's compliment on my hairstyle, she was sent to pick up my dress and tidy up Jasper. The latter was sent to the hotel to pick up my mother and her husband Phil. I vaguely heard the sound of the downstairs door opening and closing, closing and opening. The sound gradually drifted upstairs.
Alice asked me to stand up so that she could help me get dressed and make up. Just as she helped me fasten the long string of pearl buttons on my back, my knees shook so badly that even my satin skirt rippled.
"Take a deep breath, Bella." Alice said. "Try to slow down your heart. Otherwise, you will be sweating. "
I tried to give a sarcastic expression. "I can do it."
"I also have to change clothes. Can you keep it like this for two minutes? "
"hmm ... maybe?"
She glared at me and rushed out the door.
I focused on my breathing, counted the ups and downs of my lungs, and looked at the patterns projected by the bathroom lights on the smooth fabric of my skirt. I'm afraid to look in the mirror. I'm afraid to see myself in a wedding dress in the mirror. I feel horrible.
Alice came back when I counted to 200 breaths, and a silver evening dress spilled on the ground like mercury, which could highlight her slim figure.
"Alice, wow ~"
"It's nothing. No one will notice me tonight, at least not when you are here. "
"Ah-ah."
"So now, can you control yourself, or should I bring Jasper up?"
"Are they here? Is my mother there? "
"She just entered the door and is going upstairs now."
Renee flew here two days ago, and I stayed with her as much as possible, in other words, as long as I could get her to leave Esme and the topic of decoration. If you ask me, she enjoys it more than a child locked up in Disneyland for one night. This made me feel cheated by Charlie, which made me worry for nothing … "Oh, Bella!" " "I started screaming before I entered the door." Oh, baby, you are so beautiful! Oh, I'm gonna cry! Alice, you are great! You and Esme can both run the wedding planning business. Where did you find this skirt? How beautiful! So elegant, so noble. Bella, you look like you just got out of a Jane Austen movie. "My mother's voice sounds a little far away, and the objects in the room are a little blurred." How creative the design around Bella's ring is. How romantic! People can't help thinking that this ring has been handed down from generation to generation in Edward's family since19th century! "
Alice and I exchanged glances. My mother is behind in fashion 100 years. The theme of this wedding is not around the ring, but Edward himself.
At this moment, there was a loud, blunt voice clearing his throat at the door.
"Renee, Esme says it's almost time for you to go downstairs and sit down." It's Charlie.
"Wow, Charlie, you look great!" Renee sighed, almost shocked. And Charlie's answer still shows his stubbornness.
"Alice made me wear it."
"Is it time already?" Renee talked to herself, sounding almost as nervous as me. "It all happened so fast. I'm a little dizzy. "
We all are.
"Give me a hug before I go down." Renee insisted. "Be careful, don't pull anything."
My mother gently encircled my waist, and then walked around to the door, just to see my face after a turn.
"Oh, dear, I almost forgot! Charlie, where is that box? "
My father fumbled in his pocket for a while, took out a small white box and handed it to Renee. Renee lifted the lid and handed it to me.
"Something sad," she said.
"This is an old thing. They used to be your swan grandmother's, "Charlie added. "We found a jeweler and replaced the original artificial glass stone with sapphire."
There are two heavy silver hair combs in the box. The tips of the comb teeth are decorated with clusters of dark blue gems, which are extremely delicate.
My throat is choking. "mom, dad ... you don't need to give it to me."
"Alice forbids us to do anything else," said Renee. "Every time we want to do something, she exposes us."
I burst out laughing.
Alice stepped forward and quickly inserted two combs on both sides of the bun. "Things here are old and a little sad," Alice mused, and stood back and looked at me. "The skirt here is new ... so here it is ..."
I subconsciously reached out and caught what she threw at me. I opened my palm and saw that it was a pair of white garters.
"That's mine. Remember to give it back to me. " Alice said to me.
My face suddenly turned red.
"That's right," Alice said with satisfaction. "A little color, this is what you need. You are perfect. " She turned to my parents with a smug smile. "Renee, you should go downstairs."
"Yes, sir." Renee blew me a kiss and hurried out.
"Charlie, can you bring the flowers?"
When Charlie was not in the room, Alice grabbed the garter in my hand and plunged it into my skirt. When her cold hand touched my ankle, I couldn't help but take a breath and almost stood unsteadily. She jerked up her socks to show that she was ready.
She had stood up before Charlie came in with two white bouquets. The scent of roses, citrus and freesia hangs over me like fog.
Rosalie, the best musician in the family after Edward, began to play the piano downstairs. The maiden of snow in Parker Bell. My breathing began to become rapid.
"Relax, Bella," Charlie said, but turned nervously to Alice. "She doesn't look so good. Do you think she can do it? "
His voice is so ethereal that I can't even feel where my legs are.
"She will be fine."
Alice stood in front of me and stood on tiptoe so that she could look me in the eye and hold my wrist tightly.
"Concentrate, Bella. Edward is waiting for you downstairs. "
I took a deep breath and hoped I could calm down.
The music gradually transitioned to new tunes. Charlie stabbed me. "Bella, we're leaving."
"Bella?" Alice still looked at me when she asked me.
"Yes," I answered briefly. Edward. All right. "I asked her to take me out of the room, and Charlie followed me closely.
The music in the hall is much louder. It interweaves with ten thousand kinds of flowers and overflows the stairs. I just thought that Edward was waiting for me below, and then took a step forward.
This piece of music is familiar. Under the heavy decorative sound, it turned out to be Wagner's wedding March. "It's my turn," Alice said in her sweet voice. "Count to five and come with me." She began to spin down the stairs in a slow and elegant dance. I should realize that it was a mistake to let Alice be my only maid of honor, which made me even more uncoordinated in the back.
A horn suddenly sounded in the high-pitched music, and I knew it was a hint to me.
"Don't let me fall, Dad," I whispered. Charlie took my hand in his arms and held it tightly.
Step by step. I told myself this when we started walking slowly downstairs. My appearance caused the guests to whisper, I could hear it, but I dared not raise my eyes until I came to the flat ground. Blood is all over my cheeks. Of course, my position is a shy bride.
Once I stepped over the scary ladder, I started looking for him. At first, I was attracted by the garlands hanging in every corner of the room. These garlands are made of thousands of white flowers, and long white ribbons are hung on the garlands. However, when I passed rows of satin chairs, I saw all the people staring at me, and my face turned red. Finally, I found him standing in front of an arch decorated with more flowers and garlands.
I hardly realized that Carlisle was standing beside him and Angela's father was behind them. I haven't seen my mother. She should have sat in the front row, and I didn't see my new family or any guests-they should have stayed longer.
I can only see Edward's face; It fills my vision and my whole heart. His honey-like eyes are burning with golden flames; The perfect face just bears his affection. Then, when he stared at me in awe, he gave me a choking smile.
Suddenly, the pressure on Charlie's hand became the only thing in the world that stopped me from rushing to the altar.
The March was so slow that I had to adjust my pace to its rhythm. Thank god, the passage to the altar is short. Then, finally, finally, I arrived. Edward held out his hand. According to the ancient symbol of the world, Charlie took my hand and gave it to Edward. I touched his cold and magical skin and finally felt at home.
Our vows are as simple and traditional as being read countless times. But no couple will be as special as us. So we asked Father Weber to make a small change to the oath. He cleverly replaced "until death do us part" with a more appropriate phrase "as long as we all live".
At that moment, when the priest was reading his lines, I felt that my world had finally settled in a suitable place after such a long period of ups and downs. Before, I was afraid of all this, and felt that this ceremony was like a birthday gift imposed on me, or a humiliating display, like a dance; I'm so confused. I looked Edward in the eyes of victory and knew that I was also a winner. As long as I can be with him, nothing else matters.
When I was asked to take the oath, I didn't realize that I was crying.
"I do," I tried to spit out these two words, and my voice was too low to hear. I blinked to see his face clearly.
When it was his turn to take the oath, every word was very clear and with a sense of victory.
"I do," he swore.
Father Weber declared us husband and wife, and Edward reached out and held my face carefully, just like holding delicate white petals scattered on our heads. Through tears, I tried to confirm this surreal fact that this incredible person is already mine.
If possible, his golden eyes seem to have overflowed with tears. His head was so close to me that I immediately stood on tiptoe and put my arm around his neck-with flowers and people.
He kissed me tenderly and admirably; Let me forget the crowd, place, time, reason ... just remember that he loves me, he wants me, and I am his.
He started that kiss, and he had to end it. I still cling to him, wanting more, completely ignoring the audience's snickering or clearing my throat. Finally, he put his hand on my face, stepped back-too fast-and looked at me.
On the surface, he seemed amused and pulled out a silly smile. In private, I was very happy when he was forced to perform in public.
The crowd burst into warm applause, and he turned around so that we could face our relatives and friends. I can't take my eyes off him.
I finally took my eyes off him reluctantly. My mother's arm was the first to catch me, and the first thing I saw was her tearful face. Later, we passed through the crowd surrounded by countless hands, from one hug to the next. My attention was focused on Edward's hand, which was clenched in mine, and I was confused about who hugged me. However, I can easily distinguish the gentle and warm hugs from my human friends and the elegant and cold hugs from my new family members.
It is particularly unusual to have a fierce hug-seth clearwater bravely stood among vampires and replaced my lost werewolf friend.
