Why do you wear a hijab when you get married?
In ancient China, brides wore red hijab when they got married for a long time. Legend has it that Nu Wa rolled two millstones at the foot of the mountain, convinced her brother Fuxi to get married, and then picked a big leaf to hide her shame and completed the "wedding".

It is recorded in Du You's Tong Dian in the Tang Dynasty: "Since the Eastern Han Dynasty and Wei and Jin Dynasties, when I was in trouble, I met Liang Ji and was anxious to get married. The gauze I used to marry my daughter was made by my husband because I worship menstruation. " It can be seen that in the Eastern Han, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, the simplified wedding ceremony was adopted in an emergency, and the "tulle" used to "cover the female head" was probably the so-called red hijab.

In the Qi Dynasty during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the hijab had the function of shielding women from the cold, only covering the top of the head. In the early Tang dynasty, it evolved into a curtain hat to hide shame.

According to legend, during the reign of Kaiyuan Tianbao in the Tang Dynasty, Li Longji, Emperor Taizong, in order to be unconventional and break through the old customs, instructed maids to cover their heads with "Touluo", that is, women used a piece of gauze as a decoration to cover the veil hat in the early Tang Dynasty. Wu in the Southern Song Dynasty wrote in "Marriage on the Land": "On the third day of the first month, the man gave a dowry, a gold hijab, a flower fan for five men and two women, a pollen record, a washing product, a flower money and a fruit, and so on ... (And married, two newlyweds) stood in front of the court, so he asked both men and women to pick the hijab with scales or looms.

"Obviously, in the wedding of the Song Dynasty, there was a ceremony of covering and removing the covering. From the late Jin Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty, hijab became popular among the people and became an indispensable festive decoration for the bride in the wedding. Red hijab was often used to express happiness.

The use of the hijab has three main functions:

One is to cover up shame and ugliness. The veil can hide the true face of the bride, and the true face of Lushan Mountain will be revealed when the veil is taken off. At the same time, marriage is of great significance to the bride, and life, psychology and physiology will change greatly, so the hijab also has the function of covering up the shame of women's wedding.

The second is the need of aesthetics. Influenced by culture and national character, China has been pursuing introverted, implicit and gentle female beauty since ancient times, covering the bride's face with a hijab, revealing only a beautiful figure. However, before she started walking towards us, we called for a thousand times and urged her for a thousand times, but she still hid half of her face behind her guitar and didn't let us see it. This scene is naturally very beautiful.

The third is the role of exorcism. According to historical records, "the bride wears red brocade and says' hijab' to ward off evil spirits" (Compilation of Shenze County Records of Huabei Volume), and red is also a festive and auspicious color.
