The wedding gifts between friends and colleagues in first-tier cities are generally between 200-800 yuan, and the specific amount depends on their relationship, while the amounts of 300, 400 and 700 are taboos. The average level is around 500 yuan, and friends who are good, creative and tasteful will give some extra gifts to the couple. Popular gifts include Swarovski crystal ornaments, gold and silver jewelry bedding, household items, tableware, alcohol and so on. Compared with big cities like Beijing and Shanghai, there are fewer immigrants in second-tier cities, and young people who live comfortably in the local area are often more financially capable. They have less pressure in life, pay more attention to face and yearn for fashionable life and consumption. Therefore, the highest level of red envelopes here may be unexpectedly higher than that in first-tier cities, generally around 200- 1000 yuan. Besides red envelopes between friends and relatives, there are also many people giving gifts. But gifts are relatively more practical, which may be household appliances, clothing, bags and so on.
The new national regulation on the bride price is that under normal circumstances, the bride price cannot be refunded. But if the conditions are met, the bride price can also be refunded. For example, neither party registered for marriage after paying the bride price.
