The main forms of Chinese folk dance
The main forms of Chinese folk dance are yangko, waist drum and lion dance.

1, yangko:

Yangko is a representative folk dance popular among Han people in China (mainly in the north), and different regions have different names and styles. In the folk, there are two names for yangko: those who walk on stilts are called "Yangko on stilts" and those who don't walk on stilts are called "Tuyangko". The so-called "yangko" in modern times refers to "local yangko".

On major festivals, such as the New Year, cities and rural areas have organized teams to greet each other, bless each other and entertain each other. In addition, different village neighbors will twist the yangko to visit each other and compete with each other in singing and dancing. Yangge is a popular Han folk dance in rural areas of China.

It embodies a distinctive national style in the use of color. When people dance yangko, the clothes they wear have a strong color contrast, including red, blue, yellow and green. Everyone sang and danced with the accompaniment of gongs and drums to express their happy mood and yearning for a better life.

2. Waist encouragement:

Waist drum dance, also known as "beating the waist drum", is one of the forms of folk dance. Folk dances popular in northern Shaanxi before liberation were mostly performed during the New Year, and sometimes yangko teams were inserted to dance with them.

After liberation, it almost spread all over the country, and it was popular all over the province in the early 1950s. That's a group dance. Performers have a dozen or dozens of waist drum players, half male and half female, and several people are equipped with double cymbals and small drum bugles.

3. lion dance:

On the occasion of the Spring Festival, "lion dance" has gradually become an indispensable form for people to avoid evil spirits and disasters, and to make money and treasure.

Shi Wen, who is personable and gentle, plays ball with a pedal, is as close to others as a cat, and the "martial artist" who is vigorous, quick and eager, mainly performing acrobatics, has basically become two different forms of "lion dance" in the north and south.

In addition to the above performance forms, there is also a unique "lion dance" in Chenggu County, Shaanxi Province: "Laughing at monks and playing with lions". This dramatic performance between the laughing monk and the lion banished by the Jade Emperor has reached 108 in the past.
