Suzhou Garden Dingyuan
Dingyuan, Suzhou, is located in the ancient Camellia Village at the south foot of Huqiu Mountain, the first scenic spot in Wuzhong, covering an area of 100 mu, of which Taying Lake, the largest garden lake in Suzhou at present, has 26 mu, pavilions, winding paths, flowing water and more than 30 places of interest, which is not only the essence of Suzhou classical gardens, but also the beauty of Jiangnan water towns. In order to enrich the content and increase the interest, the park has also added some performances with Jiangnan characteristics all the year round, which is a unique traditional garden in Jiangnan. As early as 1000 years ago in the Song Dynasty, it was famous for producing tea here, forming a "three flowers" industry with jasmine, hawksbill and white orchid as the mainstay and a local characteristic culture integrating flower planting, tea making and tea tasting. According to legend, Liu Bowen, the founding minister of the Ming Dynasty, lived here to avoid political enemies, so he called Dingyuan. In the middle of Ming Dynasty, Tang Yin, Zhu Yunming, Shen Zhou, Wen Zhiming and other Jiangnan literati all traveled here. They rowed, drank, recited poems and painted, leaving many legends. In the Qing Dynasty, Chen built Puji Hall here to help the cold people and was awarded by Emperor Kangxi. When he traveled to the south of the Yangtze River, he stopped here to write poems, leaving behind the imperial ink of two emperors in the Qing Dynasty. Now Dingyuan has completely restored the original architecture and landscape on the site of Camellia Ancient Village, and added some scenic spots, such as "Tea Garden" and "Camellia Nursery", to show people the whole process of planting, making and appreciating Camellia tea, so that this local traditional skill has been carried forward, and Dingyuan has become the first Suzhou to integrate the characteristics of Jiangnan water town with classical gardens, and comprehensively display Suzhou's "water culture, tea culture and Wu culture" from the Ming Dynasty.
