Prato (Italian: Prato) is located in the east of Italy and is the capital of Prato province in Tuscany. Located at the southwest foot of the Apennines, facing the Vicencio River, it is 0/6 km away from Florence/KLOC-in the southeast. The population is1610000 (1982). Important wool spinning center, as well as cement, textile machinery and chemical industry. There are marble mines nearby. There is a railway connection between Florence and Bologna. There is a cathedral that blends medieval Roman and Gothic architectural styles. -
The textile industry in the suburbs of Prato is developed, but there are still very important churches and museums in the city center. Prato Cathedral (built in 12 1 1) is flanked by sacred belts designed by Danart and Michelozzo. It is said that before the Virgin Mary ascended to heaven, the Holy Spirit brought Thomas, who was one of the original twelve believers of Jesus. Inside the church are Fra Filippo Lippi's Life of John the Baptist and murals by the painter Haguenau Lo Gard. Other attractions include the Civico Museum, Santa Maria delle Carceri Church, Pope Frederick II Castle and Museo del Tessuto Museum, which witnessed the development of textile processing industry.
