In the co-production era in the mid-1980s, many Hong Kong films came to the mainland to shoot, such as Shaolin Temple, Shaolin Kid, North and South Shaolin and so on.

In the late 1990s, some films began to be filmed in Chinese mainland, such as Super Police.
