The Music College of Xinyang Normal University was formerly the Art Department of Xinyang Normal University. Founded in 1995, 1997 began to recruit undergraduates. There are three undergraduate majors: musicology, music performance and dance. Since its establishment, the college has always followed the laws of higher education, based on local conditions and highlighted local characteristics, and strived to cultivate students into teachers with noble moral character, simple style, solid foundation, broad caliber, innovative spirit and practical ability, as well as music talents who can engage in basic music education and other social needs.
The college pays attention to the cultivation of students' innovative spirit and artistic practice ability. The college has student art groups such as orchestras, national orchestras, choirs, dance troupes and electro-acoustic bands, which provide students with enough artistic practice platforms and carry out various artistic practice activities at different levels and types. Such as: New Year's Concert, weekend wide-angle literature and art, class stage, dance, instrumental music, vocal music special parties, and various foreign-related literary competitions and performances organized by the school. There are more than 30 performances per academic year, of which 2 are selected and broadcast by CCTV.
