Dingyuan County is located in the middle of Jianghuai and the east of Anhui Province. Dingyuan is connected to Hefei in the south, Huainan in the west, Bengbu in the north and Chuzhou in the east. Close to Nanjing metropolitan area and Hefei economic circle, far away from the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone. Dingyuan has a total area of 2,998 square kilometers and governs 16 towns and 6 townships. It is the most populous county in eastern Anhui with a permanent population of 67 1.
Dingyuan had the reputation of "connecting eight border cities and thoroughfare nine provinces" in ancient times, and it is still the hub of China. Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway and Huainan railway run through the territory, and Beijing, Taiwan and expressway run through the territory.
