Tension membrane structure is an important part of modern membrane structure architecture, and the membrane surface is generally negative Gaussian surface. Therefore, it is favored by architects because of its rich form, natural smoothness and soft surface. However, the stress analysis of this structural system is more complicated and requires higher construction accuracy. Therefore, it is difficult to design, calculate and manufacture.

Skeleton membrane structure is a closed and stable skeleton system (generally steel truss system, grid structure, cable net structure or tensegrity system) and membrane material * * * to form a structural stress system. The structure of the system should be similar to the conventional structure (except self-built cable net or tensegrity system), which is easy to be understood and accepted by the engineering community. However, in order to make the membrane have a certain stiffness, the support system provided by the skeleton system should generally have a certain curvature, and a mechanism should be set to prestress the membrane.
