Zherong County, formerly known as Yang Zhe, is an inland mountainous county in northeast Fujian. As early as the Neolithic Age and before the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, ancestors lived here. Since ancient times, it has been a commodity distribution center at the junction of Fujian and Zhejiang, and is known as the "throat of Fujian and Zhejiang". With a total area of 57 1 km2, Zherong County is the least populated county in Fujian Province. Since ancient times, it has been a border trade point between Fujian and Zhejiang, and one of the 55 counties and cities approved by the State Council to open to the outside world. It is a national ecological demonstration area. Zherong Paper-cut Window has become the only provincial-level cultural industry demonstration base in Ningde. It has the reputation of "the hometown of Radix Pseudostellariae in China", "the hometown of folk culture and art in China" (paper-cut) and the hometown of longevity in China.
