Empresses were established by the ancient emperors of China. Empress system, like Chu Jun system, is an important part of harem system and even imperial system. After Qin Shihuang unified China, he established various systems in an all-round way, clearly stipulating that the first wife of the emperor was the queen and the mother of the emperor was the empress dowager. Qin Shihuang himself has never had a queen in his life, and he is the only emperor without a queen since the establishment of the system, so that the mausoleum of Qin Shihuang has only one tomb without a queen, which has become an unsolved historical mystery.
Unwilling to be queen
Qin Shihuang ascended the throne at the age of thirteen and came to power at the age of twenty-two. Tian Zi had nine years of peace, which was also the time for ancient men to get married. After three years in office, he was qualified to stand up, but he didn't stand up for nine years. From the age of 22 to 39, 17 was the time when he came to power to unify the six countries. Although busy with state affairs, it doesn't need much trouble to stand behind. Qin Shihuang spent most of his time cruising from the age of 39 to 50, but soon after his establishment, he "dominated the world." Although the Qin Dynasty was short, Qin Shihuang had plenty of time to be a queen, not because he didn't have time to be a queen, but because he didn't want to be a queen, not because his mother didn't worry, nor because his ministers didn't do their duty.
There are many reasons why Qin Shihuang failed to establish a queen after 37 years in office. However, the decisive reason why he insisted on not establishing a queen is not recorded in historical materials. Later generations guessed with the help of fragmentary information and imagination at that time. To sum up, there are probably five reasons.
Evonne, the mother of Qin Shihuang, has gone too far. First, she became the mistress of Lv Buwei, a speculator. After being pregnant for two months, she was presented to the grandson of Qin. Zi Chu was called King Zhuang Xiang after he succeeded to the throne. After the death of King Zhuang Xiang, she was still the Empress Dowager, and she often revisited the old relationship with Lv Buwei. In 2000, it was recorded that "the first emperor was strong and the queen mother was immoral." Later, she had an affair with Miao Yi and gave birth to two sons. Miao Yi cursed his ministers after drinking: "I am the false father of the King of Qin. How dare I argue with you? " His mother's indiscretion made Qin Shihuang angry and ashamed, made him depressed and complicated: introverted, suspicious, delusional, autocratic, tyrannical and heartless, which made him an irrational tyrant. Finally, it broke out completely, killing two illegitimate children, driving his mother out of Xianyang, taking it out on him, removing him from his post as prime minister, and then ordering him to "move to Shu quickly." As a result, Lv Buwei committed suicide by taking poison for fear of being punished.
The psychological shadow brought by his mother always accompanied Qin Shihuang, and his hatred for his mother developed and generalized into hatred for all women, which led to his later paranoia in marriage. Although there are six beauties in his harem, he only regards them as objects to vent his hatred for women or as tools to meet his physiological needs. In today's words, Qin Shihuang has fallen into a morbid state and needs mental health consultation. Therefore, the psychological harm and distortion caused by the mother's behavior is an important factor that Qin Shihuang never became a queen.
Second, pretentious and unattractive.
Qin Shihuang was the first emperor who basically unified China. Needless to say, he affirmed and appreciated his historical achievements from the standpoint of future generations. Qin Shihuang was also very pretentious at that time, thinking that his achievements exceeded those of the ancient saints, three emperors and five emperors, so the requirements for the queen were naturally very high, so high that he could not even tell himself clearly. So he looks tired.
Due to the influence of Qin Shihuang's life experience and surrounding environment, he developed a mean and suspicious character from an early age. On the one hand, he is very enthusiastic. He fought for years, swept the six countries, stabilized the quartet and established a unified empire. On the other hand, he may worry that the establishment of a queen will hinder him from realizing his lofty ideals. Imagine a person who is dissatisfied with his family and shifts all his energy to his political ideal. What does his ideal mean to him? Is there anything you don't want to sacrifice some personal ideas to realize your ideal?
Fourth, I have a special liking for immortality and alchemy, and I have been left out in the cold.
As we all know, Qin Shihuang pursued immortality and had a special liking for alchemy and alchemy. Qin Shihuang visited the homeland of six countries four times. I have seen alchemists such as Xu Fu three times for the sake of elixir. Xu Fu was also sent to lead three thousand virgins to the East China Sea to get medicine. Xu Hai has been in the sea for several years, and it costs a lot of money to find the fairy medicine. He was afraid that Qin Shihuang would be angry, so he lied that he could get the fairy medicine. However, the giant mackerel often haunts the ocean, so he can't get close to it. Please send an archer to shoot the big shark with a crossbow. Qin Shihuang had the big fish killed. He went to the seaside himself to see if there were any big fish. He even wants to go to the sea to find immortals himself. This keen interest and persistent pursuit of immortal dreams also restrained interest in other things to a certain extent, and one of the results was to forget the great event of Hou Li.
5. The reason for not standing is to love Hu Hai?
It is a traditional political custom to leave the eldest son to the queen's wife. The eldest son of Qin Shihuang was Fuxi, and his favorite son was Hu Hai. Qin Shihuang had more than twenty sons, and the youngest son, Hu Hai, was his favorite.
He is the son of18th Qin Shihuang in Hu Hai, ranking last. Some people even think that he is the youngest son of Qin Shihuang. His low ranking illustrates two points: first, it is extremely unlikely that he and the oldest Fu Su are the same mother. Therefore, if Fu Su's mother becomes a queen, according to tradition, it won't be his turn. Secondly, this ranking also shows that his mother approached Qin Shihuang late, and his mother's rank and status are likely to be relatively low, even to the point of humble. Hu Hai said that he lost his ancestors and his mother died young. Not only did Qin Shihuang not make his mother queen, but Hu Hai did not make her queen mother after he acceded to the throne. If she were a nobleman, they wouldn't have to be so secretive and even afraid to pursue the seal.
Later, Hu Hai buried Qin Shihuang's harem and killed many brothers and sisters, just to cover up this most obvious weakness. Because in theory, most brothers are more qualified to be emperors than him. Killing people who know the inside story and those who are threatening is a preventive measure.
The queen is a prince. Qin Shihuang wanted to establish a queen. The queen's rank is too low. She died young, so he didn't make a queen for life at all. He tried his best to defend Hu Hai. Of course, it is impossible to let other female queens.
Hate many beauties in the harem, envy widows.
Qin Shihuang looked down on many beautiful women who were admitted to the harem after the reunification of the six countries, hated their behavior of abandoning the shame of national subjugation and pleasing the new owner, but praised the women who kept their virginity. It is said that there is a young widow named Qing who has been observing Women's Day for several years. Qin Shihuang gave her a "next seat" as an equal. In the Qin dynasty, even the prime minister could only stand in front of the emperor, and it was rare to give her a seat. Qin Shihuang also built a "Huaiqing Terrace" for the widow to publicize her deeds. Today, there is a mountain in Shu called Nuzhen Mountain, where widows are widowed.
