At present, the main producers of pistachios in the world are the United States, Turkey, Iran, Greece, Syria, Afghanistan and other countries in desert arid areas. The cultivation of pistachios in China was introduced from Persia, now Iran, in the Tang Dynasty, with a cultivation history of about 1500 years. Later, in the 1950s, China began to introduce and plant a large number of pistachios, and the output gradually increased, which basically realized localization and changed the situation of relying on imports in the past. ~~
At present, pistachios in China are mainly cultivated in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, Gansu Province, Shanxi Province, Hebei Province, Shandong Province and other places. At present, except for a little large-scale planting in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, planting in other areas has been scattered so far, and no large-scale planting has been formed. In recent years, in the fight against poverty in northwest China, it has become an important economic pillar industry project for poor households to grow and generate income. Pistacia vera, a shrub species, has excellent characteristics such as extreme drought resistance, cold resistance, barren resistance, heat resistance and cold resistance, and can be planted in the vast arid, semi-arid, dry-hot valley areas and semi-desert areas and hilly slopes in northwest China by building forest land. ~~
Pistachio nuts are mainly produced in Xinjiang, China. In the history of our country, although pistachio tree species, seedlings and planting techniques were introduced in the Tang Dynasty, the history is very long. Because productivity and planting technology were relatively backward at that time, the output was very low, and the products were only for the royal nobles. At present, the main producing areas in China can produce more than 600 kilograms per mu, which can be processed into 150-200 kilograms of dried fruit after peeling and drying, which means that the output value per mu can reach 0.6 ~ 1000 yuan, and the economic benefits are considerable. It is a project with very high economic value in rural planting industry at present, which is very suitable for northwest China, with deep soil layer, good air permeability, open and flat terrain and convenient drainage. ~~
Therefore, at present, the most suitable areas for planting Pistacia vera in China are Kashgar, Aksu and Hotan in Xinjiang, Hetao in northern Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia, Zhelimu League and Chifeng in the central and western regions, Xichang in Gansu, Ningxia, Hebei and Sichuan, and the relatively arid areas bordering Yunnan and Guizhou. Pistacia vera can be introduced and cultivated as a dry orchard tree, which can turn barren land into an orchard and improve the utilization rate of land resources. In the long-term planting practice of pistachio, the experimental planting in Hami area of Xinjiang, Hexi Corridor area of Gansu and Gangu County was very successful, and the rest areas were planted sporadically. In recent years, it has also been introduced on a large scale, which is an important economic pillar industry in the local fight against poverty. ~~
