Enshi City is the seat of the state government of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, the political, economic and cultural center and transportation hub of the whole state. It is connected with Xingshan, Zigui and Changyang in Yichang in the east, Wufeng and Hefeng in the south, Jianshi, Chongqing and Wushan in the west and Shennongjia forest area in the north.
