Ziyangko was originally called "drumming", also known as "drum yangko" and "running yangko", and it was commonly known as "drum yangko" after the 1940s. In Renfeng Town, Jiyang County, drum yangko is widely spread. Guanzhuang, Beichen, Luojiazhuang, Hahuwang, Lujia and other villages centered on Liuhe and Sijiafang mainly play the role of "umbrella, drum, stick and flower". These four characters are named after the props used by the actors. Among them, "flowers" are female horns, and "umbrellas" are divided into "ugly umbrellas" and "flower umbrellas": "ugly umbrellas" are mostly dressed as old people; "Flower Umbrella" mostly pretends to be a youth. Drum is the main force of drum yangko performance. Most of them are played by young men, sticks are usually played by teenagers, and flowers are also called "pulling flowers". Some places walk on stilts, others don't, and most of them are played by girls. In addition to the above four roles, there is also a clown, also known as the "outside corner", which can be used as a variety of funny characters. Generally, it is no longer formally compiled, depending on whether people have the ability to play this role.
There is no uniform number of roles in drum yangko, which is generally divided into three types: big, medium and small. Generally, there are more than 90 large characters, about 70 medium-sized characters and about 50 small ones. The added role must be an even number and its multiple. For example, if the cardinal number of three is 4, it will increase by a multiple of 4, and if the cardinal number of the drum is 8, it will increase by a multiple of 8, and so on. In order to maintain the dominant position of Yangko, the number of drums must be more than twice that of umbrellas.
The yangko team can perform at a fixed point or on the road, which is called "crossing the street bag" locally, also called "crossing the street" or "walking". The yangko team followed the band's lead, with umbrellas, drums and sticks, and then arranged in two or three roads in the following order. The team is divided into three performance segments in the disaster area. The first is the performance of "playing the field". There are various ways to play the field, generally martial arts, stilts, lion dance and clown performances, with the aim of expanding the performance venue, followed by percussion bands, which occupy a lower position in the middle of the venue. The yangko team's "playing by the field" to the band's drum music performance can be divided into three types: literary field, martial field and civil and military field. The literary field is the "running" of the opposite pattern, and it is all. In an orderly way, when running, there is wind under your feet. Martial arts venues mainly perform "fighting", that is, players do all kinds of imposing, exaggerated and brave martial arts actions according to the prescribed route. Generally, excellent dance combinations are the main means of expression, such as "Golden Dragon and Yuzhu", "Screaming Horses" and "Streets and Alleys", while the civil and military venues are steady and energetic. The whole process of running a venue is generally repeated in the order of literary field, martial field and civil and military field. Its rhythm is fast and slow, the atmosphere is in sharp contrast, the atmosphere is relaxed and the effect is eye-catching.
