Since the 1980s, people began to seek benefits from mountain resources, and began to develop large-scale garden ginseng production in the mountains of Huanren, and once achieved remarkable economic benefits, which made some farmers in Huanren quickly embark on the road of hard work and wealth. However, due to the long-term large-scale planting of ginseng, the ecological environment in mountainous areas has been damaged to a certain extent, resulting in serious damage to the county's ecosystem. Especially in 2005 and 2006, two floods occurred in Huanren, which made Huanren people deeply realize that destroying forests and planting ginseng is not the way for Huanren people to get rich, but a chronic suicide economy that kills the goose to get the egg.
In the 1990s, farmers in Huanren county developed small and medium-sized medicinal materials industry in the forest area, which promoted the development of ginseng-leading industry in Huanren forest area and made Huanren a famous ginseng-leading industrial base in Northeast China in just a few years. Starting from 1998, driven by leading enterprises, the county began to implement ultra-standardized production, which improved the quality and yield of ginseng and made great progress.
