This competition is sponsored by Aviation Radio Model Sports Management Center of State Sports General Administration, Gansu Provincial People's Government, air sports Association of China, and undertaken by Gansu Provincial Sports Bureau and Jiayuguan Municipal People's Government.
The gliding festival is divided into four competitions: hot air balloon flight, power suspension, delta wing skydiving and power parachute. There are three performances: air show, night hot air balloon fire patrol and night hot air balloon mooring exhibition. More than 70 aviation planes will participate.
It is understood that Jiayuguan City held the "China Jiayuguan International Gliding Festival" on 199 1 992 for two consecutive years, which received good response at home and abroad and was designated as one of the key festivals promoted by the National Tourism Administration. Jiayuguan Gliding Base is one of the three largest gliding bases in the world, which is as famous as Australia Gliding Base and South Africa Gliding Base, and has an important influence in the international gliding world. In 1980s, many international and domestic gliding competitions were held here, which created many gliding competition records.
