Changyang Tujia Autonomous County is an autonomous county under the jurisdiction of Yichang City, Hubei Province. Located in the mountainous area of southwest Hubei, the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and Qingjiang River, it is a special county that integrates the old, the young, the poor and the reservoir. 1July, 984, Changyang Tujia Autonomous County was established with the approval of the State Council, China. It is exposed in Sinian, Cambrian, Carboniferous, Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian, Triassic, Permian, Cretaceous Tertiary and Quaternary strata. The geological structure belongs to the west extension of the east-west structural belt in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

The anticline extends nearly east-west, with Sinian strata at its core and Cambrian-Permian strata on its wings. The upper part is marine carbonate rock structure, and the lower part is continental clastic rock construction, which shows the characteristics of platform sedimentary caprock.
