Hangzhou has a history of more than 2200 years since the establishment of the county government in the Qin Dynasty. It was once the capital of Wu Yueguo and the Southern Song Dynasty. Hangzhou was called Lin 'an in ancient times, and paradise on earth is a description of Hangzhou. As one of the most popular tourist destinations in China, what do you think of when you mention Hangzhou? At the first stop in Jiande, we first went to Meicheng, a Millennium ancient town, which is a historical ancient town on the banks of Xin 'an River. Many people may not be familiar with Meicheng, but it is the most historic place in Jiande and was once the seat of the ancient Yan government.

The trip to Meicheng begins with the city wall. At present, the city wall along the river has been preserved and repaired. You can climb the wall and go sightseeing. A section of city wall, a city gate, passing through history and looking into the distance, all stand safely by the Xin 'an River.

Meicheng Ancient Town has beautiful scenery, with its back to Wulong Mountain Scenic Resort and facing the Sanjiangkou, where Xin 'anjiang, Lanjiang and Fuchunjiang meet, with beautiful scenery and comfortable environment. The ancient town is safe, and the sunshine in the winter afternoon is warm.

It turns out that Jiande actually hides such a thousand-year-old town, and many Hangzhou locals may know little about it. Meicheng is the seat of the ancient Yan government. Because Yanzhou no longer exists, it is gradually forgotten by people. The area under the jurisdiction of the ancient Yan government was equivalent to the present jiande city, Tonglu and Chun 'an counties, and later merged into Hangzhou.

Walking on the wall and looking back at history, Yanzhou has a unique style. The towers in the distance are still magnificent. Walking down from the city wall and entering the ancient town from the main entrance, the main street in the middle is now well repaired and the surrounding area is slowly being repaired.

Walking into the ancient town of Meicheng, we can get a closer look at this ancient city with a thousand years' history. The main street is still spacious, so it should be kept as it is, without much change. It can be seen how prosperous Meicheng used to be, with dozens of meters high stone arches separated and magnificent. There are shops on both sides, and the buildings on the second, third, fourth and fifth floors are closely connected. Although uneven, it is harmonious and not chaotic.

The ancient town is suitable for walking, relaxing, calming down, walking slowly, standing on the green slate, overlooking the city gate and distant mountains, being in Meicheng and feeling the historical changes. This ancient town is open to the public free of charge. There are not many tourists at present. If you are interested, you must come early.

If you are hungry, try some special snacks in Meicheng, such as Yanzhou sesame seed cake, Yanzhou salted duck, Meicheng handmade noodles, stinky tofu and corn grits. , have a unique local flavor.

The ancient town is not big. The parts that can be visited at present are the city wall and a main street. The whole journey takes about two hours.
