Wushan county is located at the junction of Daba mountain arc structure, eastern Sichuan fold belt and Sichuan, Hubei, Hunan and Guizhou fold belt. The Yangtze River runs east-west, and seven tributaries, such as Daning River and Baolong River, cut down strongly from north to south. The landform is in the form of alternating deep valleys and middle and low mountains, and the terrain fluctuates steeply. The elevation of valley bottom is mostly within 300 meters, and the bank slope facies is the most 1000 meters.
The exposed strata in the area are sedimentary strata, which are exposed from Cambrian to Jurassic, and the Quaternary is scattered, with alternating soft and hard strata, secondary folds and faults, and complex tectonic geological background.
Because Daba Mountain, Wushan Mountain and Qiyao Mountain meet in Wushan County, a typical karst landform is formed, with the lowest elevation of only 73. 1 m and the highest elevation of 2680 m. Located on the Wushan side, the Three Gorges of Daning River is 50 kilometers long and consists of Longmen Gorge, Eighth Five-Year Gorge and Cuidi Gorge.
