The tragic and legendary life of Nam Phuong, the last stunning Vietnamese queen.
Nam Phuong became the wife of King An Nan Guo and Vietnamese Emperor Bao Da (Phuc Thien Nguyen) from 1934 until his death. Beautiful and moving, although married into the royal family, but experienced an unsatisfactory marriage. 1947, after Viet Nam seized the northern regime, Nam Phuong went to France. 1955, she separated from the last emperor of Vietnam, Baota, when Vietnam * * * announced the confiscation of the royal family's personal property. On September 65438, 2006, Nam Phuong died of a heart attack at his home in the French province of Correz. In Vietnam You Must Know, the writer Hong Deqing introduced the legendary life of Nam Phuong to readers in a chapter.

Nam Phuong, whose real name is Nguyen Huilan (1914–1963), was the first wife of the last Vietnamese emperor Baoda (19 13- 1997). She has successively served as Empress Annan (1934- 1945, the French demoted the Vietnamese emperor to be king until 1945), Empress Vietnam (1945- 1954) and the first lady of South Vietnam.

Ruan Youshilan was born in 19 14, and her ancestral home is Gecong Tianjiang, Qianjiang Province, zhina. Her father, Pierre Ruan Hu Hao, comes from a poor Catholic family and is said to be of China descent. Through the introduction of Bishop Saigon, Ruan Youhao became the secretary of Vietnamese millionaire Li Fada, and finally married Li Fada's daughter Le Thi Binh. 1926, Ruan Youshilan, 12 years old, was sent to Neue-sur-Seine, Paris, France, and enrolled in a famous local Catholic school, Co nvent des Oiseaux, where she was naturalized as a French citizen.

After growing up, Ruan Youshilan returned to Vietnam. At a dance in the summer resort of Dalle, she met Wang Baoda who had just returned from Paris, France. At that time, Baoda fell in love with this beautiful woman who also loved sports and music at first sight. 1On March 9, 934, Baoda announced her engagement to Ruan Youshilan. Baoda said in the announcement that the future queen from the common people combines the elegance of the west with the charm of the east, and he is convinced that her behavior and role model are fully worthy of the title of queen. At that time, even she was praised as "the first beauty in zhina".

2/Kloc-0-year-old Bao Dad and 20-year-old Ruan Youshilan held an engagement ceremony in Dale Summer Palace, and Bao Dad officially married Ruan Youshilan in Hue, the imperial capital, on March 20th, 1934. The wedding ceremony adopted traditional Buddhist ceremony. Previously, this cross-religious marriage caused a lot of controversy. At that time, members of the Vietnamese royal family could not accept a Catholic queen. Some people suspect that this marriage exudes French arrogance, and * * * also said that there was "complete dissatisfaction" in this country, because Ruan Youlan refused to leave Catholicism and made a special application to Pope Pope Pius XI. The Pope allowed the bride to remain Catholic on condition that all her children were Catholic. The opposition of the Vietnamese royal family made the wedding of the couple more complicated, but Baoda obviously did not consider other bride candidates. When the four-day wedding reception ended, he awarded Ruan Youshilan the title of "Queen" and gave her the symbol of Nam Phuong, which means the fragrance of the south to thank her birthplace.

Nam Phuong

Fashion Summer 1939, Nam Phuong's first official visit to Europe set off a whirlwind. A foreign reporter wrote: "She is wearing trousers and an embroidered coat, and her side looks like a pagoda with lapels and sleeves." What surprised the fashion world most was that when she paid tribute to Pope pope pius xii, the media reported: "This tourist from zhina, India, wore a gold coat embroidered with dragons, a red scarf, a gold hat and silver pants instead of the traditional black long-sleeved robe and veil."

Children Nam Phuong * * * gave birth to five children, most of whom were educated in Co Vent des Oiseaux, a French Catholic boarding school where Nam Phuong once attended:

Prince Ruan Fubao Long was born in 1936.

Princess Phuong Mai, born in 1937, married the Duke of Italy Don Pietro Badoglio.

Princess Fenglian, born in 1938, married the French banker Bernard Morris Sulan.

Princess Face was born in 1942.

Ruan Fubao was born in 1943.

While raising their children, Nam Phuong and Nan Fang did not forget to participate in social and charitable activities, which contributed to the promotion of Vietnamese women's rights and interests. She once asked educational institutions to attach importance to women's issues in the primary school curriculum. At that time, she often stood beside Baoda, played the role of first lady, and received guests from various countries in various diplomatic occasions. For example, she received visiting Chiang Kai-shek (Vietnamese Pinyin Tuong Gioi Thach) and King Sihanouk of Cambodia.

1940, Japan took advantage of the German occupation of France in World War II to send troops to occupy Vietnam. The Japanese maintained French colonial rule in Vietnam and did not harass the royal family in Hue. On the eve of the end of World War II,1March, 945, under the manipulation of the Japanese, Baoda declared Vietnam's independence from France and became the "Greater East Asia * * * Glory Circle" of the Vietnamese Empire. Baoda's title was promoted from king to emperor, and Nam Phuong was also awarded the title of queen. However, in August of the same year, at the request of Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh, the royalist officially abdicated. Bao Da stayed in China for a period of time, serving as a consultant for the new * * *, and Nam Phuong also served as a member of the Vietnam Reconstruction Committee and funded the Vietnamese Red Cross.

Nam Phuong responded to the Golden Week Movement initiated by Ho Chi Minh in 1945 (inviting the occupying forces of China to withdraw from North Vietnam), and was awarded the red flag and the gold star badge by the Viet Nam Union. 1949, the French army returned to Vietnam. The representative of Nam Phuong10 million Vietnamese women wrote to ask the French to let Vietnam go, asking them to remember that Vietnam was a member of their French Federation in the past, and not to let Vietnam fall into bloodshed, turmoil, suffering and war again, so that millions of Vietnamese in Qian Qian could sincerely thank France. But the Queen's appeal can't defeat the reality of international politics after all.

Bao Da and Yu Chengqing's father were forced to abdicate at home, and were persecuted by the bigger territory of Vietnam and the French in the suzerain country, so he simply lived in seclusion in mountains and rivers and went to Yunnan, China to find Yu Jialin. Bao Da has a close personal relationship with Yu Jialin (Yu Chengqing's father). Yu Jialin received middle school and university education in France in his early days, and he was a classmate with Baoda. Bao Da also lived in a garden house in Kunming for a period of time.

Emperor Baoda and the Southern Empress

1946, Emperor Baoda's family left Vietnam for Hong Kong. Once Yu Jialin and Baoda went to a bank in Hong Kong to withdraw money. Baoda wrote a note to Yu Jialin and gave it to the bank manager. The bank manager saw the note and came out to meet it himself. It turns out that the French have been funding all the overseas expenses of the great emperor for a long time, and even his garden villa in Lyon, France was donated by France. The French hope to foster Baoda as a puppet by casting a long line to catch a big fish, but unfortunately, this ray leader has never really played a role. Bao Da had no intention of going into politics, and appointed Nguddin Diem (190 1- 1963) as the prime minister. Wu Tingyan's sister-in-law Ms. Wu Tingyan (1924-) was Bauda's niece and later became the first lady of South Vietnam. She is called Mrs. Confucianism or Mrs. Long, and westerners even call her Mrs. Long, so Nam Phuong is her aunt.

In her later years (1947), Nam Phuong and her children moved to Soren Castle near Cannes, where her grandparents bought the industry at the beginning of the 20th century. 1949, Baoda was invited to return to South Vietnam and became the head of state of South Vietnam, but was expelled from Wu Tingyan in 1955. After 1955, the fate between Nam Phuong and Baoda became weaker and weaker. Emperor Baoda had a romantic life. His second wife was a French woman 29 years younger than him, and there were three concubines and several mistresses. Later, Nam Phuong moved to Chabrignac Domaine de La Perche, a small village surrounded by forests in Creze, France. In this big mansion with more than 40 rooms, Emperor Baoda visited her many times. 1963 In September, Nam Phuong died of a heart attack at home at the age of 49. The funeral of the last queen of Vietnam, except for her children and two French local officials, did not cause much sensation, and even the royalist did not attend. Her tombstone was engraved with Chinese characters and French and was buried in the local cemetery.
