There is no requirement for the font of couplets, and regular script, running script, official script and seal script can be used.

The antithesis embodied in couplets is not limited to the content, but also to the antithesis in writing form, which should be arranged neatly. Therefore, avoid cursive Lian Bi. Moreover, font size, aspect ratio, spacing and so on can not be as arbitrary as other calligraphy works.
