Jingchu people are descendants of Zhu Rong, the sun god. Phoenix is regarded as a sunbird, so Chu people worship phoenix.

In ancient times, Jiangling was a swamp and there were many cranes in the river. Yang hu, the general of the Western Jin Dynasty, often danced with his friends to please his guests. As a result, Jiangling and crane formed an indissoluble bond. It has become the cultural totem of this city.
