Cambodian theatre was born in Funan period and developed greatly in Angkor period. Due to the entry of Indian culture in history, the theme of Cambodian classical drama is mainly influenced by Indian culture, but the traditional Khmer culture is still maintained in the arrangement of characters and storylines and the use of language, and Cambodians combine the two very well. Among them, the classic plays mainly include The Story of Lincha, The Ribbon of God, Conch, Jinnaweng, Tim and Dior, The Story of Temingji, The Story of Alevo and so on. Some show the pure love of young men and women, while others show the story of the prince and princess. According to the different performance forms, accompaniment instruments and costume props, it can be divided into Kaul's drama, Gai Yi's drama, Barcelona's drama, string drama and court dance drama. Among them, the main forms of Barcelona drama are dialogue and singing, accompanied by simple actions. In the performance, they are accompanied by special bands and tunes, which are played with specific instruments, such as drums, gongs and huqin. In these theatrical performances, dance occupies a certain position, and actions have specific meanings. There are many plays related to dance performances. For example, the Iraqi drama, which originated in southern Fujian, has been relatively completely circulated and preserved in Cambodia. Gai Yi Opera is a kind of sacrificial drama, which is performed when people worship natural gods, ancestors and Brahman gods, sometimes during festivals or slack seasons, usually in a temporary theater shed. At the beginning of the performance, all the actors took the stage in turn, introduced by the director one by one, and explained by special personnel. The performance is mainly song and dance, accompanied by one-sided drums. Yi drama has a certain connection with yi dance, and the embodiment of dance content in the drama is related to the cultural connotation contained in yi dance. Another example is string drama, which is a typical dance drama. It was created in the 1960s according to the artistic forms of string, dance and dialogue. The string opera is accompanied by a string orchestra, performing traditional dances with similar movements and dance forms.
