In my opinion, the modern bridge combining technology and art can be simply divided into three types.

1, historical inheritance, tourism demand

As mentioned above, it should be combined with local characteristics or the needs of tourism projects, such as covered bridges and arch bridges.

The development of covered bridges is inseparable from local characteristics. Belonging to the precipitation of history, it also reflects the beauty in the eyes of builders.

2. Choose the bridge size according to the existing demand, and then choose beautiful.

As we all know, spider web is a natural cable-stayed structure in nature with large span and strong load-bearing. For example, the cable-stayed bridge in Lakchaki, the capital of California, USA, and the uniform thin shell structure used in modern box girders have absorbed the influence of the idea of uniform compression of honeycombs and eggshells.

For example, in small rivers, we can choose to use continuous beam bridges or arch bridges. Then the question is coming. Arch bridges are expensive but beautiful, and continuous beam bridges are cheap but may be ugly to ordinary people.

For long span, we will choose cable-stayed structure, and of course we can also choose continuous beam bridge, such as Hangzhou Bay Bridge. Cable-stayed design is beautiful, but most of them use simple continuous beam bridges.

This kind of bridge generally adopts long-span suspension cables. Like the Golden Gate Bridge.

So from these three points of view, the combination of bridge technology and art seems to be the need of the city.

However, if we look at it from another angle, the diversity of the problem will be revealed. Art and beauty are not only reflected in the finished product, but also in the construction process, aren't they?
