Ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. Mey) is a perennial herb, which likes to grow in the shade, and its leaves have no stomata and palisade tissue, so it can't retain water. When the temperature is higher than 32 degrees, the leaves will burn with a canopy density of 0.7-0.8. It usually blooms in 3 years and bears fruit in 5-6 years. The flowering period is from May to June, and the fruiting period is from June to September. It grows at an altitude of 33-48 degrees north latitude, mainly under mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests or deciduous broad-leaved forests, and is found in northeast China, North Korea, South Korea, Japan and eastern Russia. Ginseng, nicknamed the king of Huangshen, Goblin, Shencao and Baicao, is one of the famous "three treasures in Northeast China", and is known as the national treasure of traditional Chinese medicine together with Qiongzhen Ganoderma lucidum and Dong 'e Ejiao.
Ginseng mostly grows in the climatic conditions of 10 with an average temperature of -23-5℃ in October and 20-26℃ in July, with strong cold tolerance, with a low temperature of -40℃ and a suitable growth temperature of 15-25℃. Generally, it grows in places where the annual accumulated temperature is 2000-3000℃, the frost-free period is 125- 150 days, the snow is 20-44 cm, and the annual precipitation is 500- 1000 mm. Ginseng enjoys a cool and humid climate. Prefer oblique and diffuse light, avoid strong light and high temperature. The soil should be well-drained, loose and fertile brown forest soil with deep humus layer or brown forest soil containing mountain ash, and the soil pH value should be 5.5-6.2.
